(Shelley McPhee photo) rQ►?RliilS tour florists On 'May 5th, the Browniea were given a tour of Cooke's Florist. The girls got to go through the green home and see how the flowers and different plants were gown and looked after. We would like to thank Steve Cooke for a very interesting night. The girls then went over to the Wesley Willis Church for the rest of their meeting. They made flowers for their mothers for Mother's Day. The Brownies met at the Clinton Public Hospital on May 12th. They were taken on a tour and learned how the hospital is run and the different deparhnents. We would like to thank the hospital for the very in- teresting tour, also special thanks to Joyce Cooke and Donna Harris for their help. On May 19 the Brownies, held their meeting at the Clinton Conservation Area for a fun night of hiking and outdoor games. To end the night there was a mar- shmallow roast, while the Beavers enjoy sing and scavage Beavers Colony A Thursday, May 28 was the last regular Meeting for the season and leaders and Beavers enjoyed favourite games, a sing -song and scavenger hunt. Our Beaver treat was donuts and Pepsi. Tic Tac closed the • meeting with a prayer for a safe sununer for the Beavers. Saturday, May 30, Colony 'A and B joined other Beavers from the district at the Benmiller Beaveree. Beavers had a tour of the camp, played soccer, ran an obstacle course, rode a tin horse, walked a nature trail and watched a fire truck in action.. The meal was beef stew, donuts and orange drink prepared by the ser- vice team. Approximately 250 Beavers gathered around the campfire for stories and to share in a sing -song. Thanks to drivers Ross Carter, Darlene Morgan and Bud Walker for assisting with -transportation A note was sent to parents that the badges were unavailable at that time but will be sent at a later date. Leaders Mary Freeman, Susan St. Louis, Garry Elliott, Jim Ryan and Pat Higgins wish to thank the parents at this time for their great co-operation during the season; also the many friends; neighbours, husbands and wives of leaders who have shared time with the colony. A special thank you goes to the janitors of the high school for their help and patience dur- ing the "messy" fun times at the colony: • Cubs The annual father and son banquet was held May 28 marking the last of the cub meetings for this season. Graham Bowker was on hand to show movies on past c~atnping trips and Bob Sem- ple had slides el other special outings the cubs have had in the past. A special award was presented to Brian Beattie for "Cub of the Year". Cubs attended the Ben- miller Camporee last weekend and captured the trophy for the best overall camp for Cubs. Karl Skov was on hand again this year as master chef . along with assistants. Ken and Marg Caldwell who have done more than their share in., volunteer work for the cubs this year. It is greatly ap- preciated by the cub pack. The Akela, Bill Hoggarth, would also like to . t other •parents who e assisted with tion, food, outings and have donated their time in any way to the pack, as well as leaders Tony MacDonald, Janet Cameron, Bob Snell and Bill Hoskin for the "super" job they have done this year.' Also thanks to Jack and Irvine Tebbutt who are allowing the cubs to camp on their farms again this weekend. Cubs should be at the farm at 6 p.m. (no sooner) Friday night, Julie 5. Check newsieetterfor details. Scouts It appears that the Scouts were not to be outdone this weekend as they won the overall camp trophy for the Scouts at the Benmiller cam- poree. This should certainly indicate the Scouts are prepared for camping at. the CJ 81. With over 700 in atten- dance at Benmiller this makes the camp the largest now held in Ontario. Thanks to fathers Don Andrews and Gary Freeman for assisting at the camp. , Have a safe summer and good Scouting. girls practised their songs for the Mother and Daughter Banquet. lst was on May 26th and was a ,fun -filled night. The 2nd Clinton Brownie Pack and our Brownies were surprised with a Carnival Night`'of fun and games with the girls winning treats and refreshments.
