BARBECUE TIME
Victoria Day marks the return of creative
outdoor cooking. Almost any cut of meat
can be enjoyed on the barbecue. By using
a marinade before grilling, a less expen-
sive cut of meat will provide a flavourful
meal. Chicken pieces, beef or pork ribs
are all delicious served with barbecued
fresh fruits and vegetables.
Hints for Your Next Barbecue:
Steaks should be 1/2 inch thick or more.
Turn meats with long handled tongs.
Trim fat to control flareups.
Keep barbecue in sheltered spot, out of
wind.
Line grill with heavy-duty foil for faster
cooking, & easier clean-ups.
A&P have prepared a free leaflet - "Over,
On or Under the Coals", giving advice on
barbecuing meat, fruits and vegetables.

Goderich
Tp. council-
Accounts totalling
$10,122.78 were ordered paid
when Goderich Township
Council met in regular
session Apri130.
Building permits were
issued to John Hillhorst to
build a garage and shed; to
Ken Weber to build a duck
shelter; and to Alvin Wise to
demolish a hen house.
A motion was passed to
have the road superin-
tendent accept the quote of
Ford Tractor in Clinton for a
mower at a price of $1,500
plus the trade-in of the
• present mower.
It was decided to deal with
land severances requested
by Chuters and Hartman as
per questionaires.
A motion was passed to
notify Peter Imanse that he
has permission to continue to
operate the well and lines on
Plan number 28 until the end
of the current season after
which time the existing
water agreement signed in
1967 will be terminated. Due
to the doubt as to whether
Mr. Imanse or Mr. B.
McClinchey is the legal
operator, both are to be
notified of the township's
intention to cancel the
existing water agreement.
It was also moved to have
the clerk contact Arnold
Makins of Bayfield and have
him arrange a meeting
between himself and Ontario
Hydro at the well on Plan
number 29 to determine the
type of hydro service which
would have to be installed to
service the well and pum-
ping system and further,
that as soon as the type of
service is agreed upon, that
Mr. Makins be authorized to
install the same and forward
the bill to W .M. Dundass.
The clerk was instructed to
reply to Mr. McLaughlin and
Mrs. Startychuk that water
should be available to them
from the Pian 29 system by
June 1.
C.R. Kier was present at
the council meeting on
behalf of his client, Lewis
Daugharty to request that
council give approval of the
proposed plan of sub-
division. Considerable
discussion arose over the
various government
stipulations pertaining to the
plan and the necessity of
enforc in g them. Council then
passed a motion that the
township is prepared to enter
into a sub -divider's
agreement with Mr.,
Daugherty regarding sub-
division plan 40T-79169,
provided that the conditions
of the various government
agencies and the township's
concerns are suitably
arranged; further that the
owner prepare and submit
for the township's con-
sideration, a sub -divider's
agreement and that the sub-
divider agree to pay the $100
fee for the necessary zoning
by-law.
Council passed a motion
that the former township
dump site on lot 81. Maitland
Concession be offered to the
adjacent owner. J.A. Teb-
butt, for the sum of $1,000
and legal fees, registration
fees, etc: and further. that if
the offer is not accepted, that
the township proceed to offer
it for sale.
Council also passed a
motion that the north half of
Block 'A' on Plan number25
be offered for sale: that the
property be listed for one
week in both Clinton and
Goderirh newspapers. that a
suitable s tg n be placed on the
lot: and that enquiries be
directed to the reeve for
terms and conditions.
