The pictures were the work of Barb Holland and Eileen Staddon. Winners of the draw were Jean Chisholm a visiting friend of Ann Gornall ()Minter Court and Joe Murray of RR5 Seaforth. Alcide Corriveau of Clin- ton and volunteer worker Bertha Gibb of Clinton sold the most tickets. The Huron Day Centre would like to thank all those involved who made the draw such a suc- cess. +++ David Anstett of Anstett Jewellers _attended the 11131 American Gem Society (AGS) Conclave in Chicago, Illinois from April 24 to 28. The . five day educational event centered around the theme "Gemology: The Total Concept." A special thank -you goes to Mrs. Bowker for coming to test night. The Golden Bar Brownies made turtles from felt while the Golden Hand Brownies started working with macrame. All the Brownies enjoyed a game of Grant's House. On April 29 the Brownies met at the school. After their opening Brownie Ring the girls went into their groups to do their book work. The Golden Bar Brownies went outside to look for different kinds of trees, plants and birds. Each one had been given certain things to find before starting Golden Hand Brownies and did macrame hangers with fancy soaps attached. The girls would like to thank Mrs. Carole Kerrigan and Megan for coming to help with the macrame. The Brownies have sold all their cookies and most had delivered them and turned in the money. The revised badge sheets were given out and several songs were sung. All sung Brownie taps and closed the meeting. The 2nd Brownie Pack will meet on, Tuesday, May 12 instead of Wednesday, so they can visit the Clinton Public Hospital for Hospital Day. Please pick your Brownie up at the hospital at 5 pm. On May 27, the group is having Elaine Townshend speak to the Brownies, and May 26 is fun night at the Legion - at 7 pm. The 1st Brownie Pack has been invited to take part. May 20 will be the final test day for the year. Brownies will hold their last meeting on May 27, but will be togetherlater. for the mother and daughter Banquet and for their trip. I BEAVERS SCOUTS CUBS Beavers Colony A: Thanks to Don McWhinney, owner of Clinton Crown Lanes; for hosting a Colony of Bowling Beavers Thursday night. Although there were no perfect games it was a fun and new experience for all involved. Thanks to mothers Madeline Bartlett, Alison Lobb, Linda Bosman, Joanne Walker and Carol Cox for assisting the leaders. Sunday, May 3, Beavers and parents shared together in, a fishing and hiking expedition. I don't believe anyone had a fish fry for supper but by popular de- mand this will be an annual event. Thanks to Don and -.:Alison Lobb for the use of theirfaii. A reminder to parents that next week is the Bike Safety Rodeo for Colony A and liteavers may bring their bikes to the rear of the high school. Also please remember the Benrniller Beaveree on May 30. Registration must be in by May 14. Beavers Colony B: Rusty performed the opening ceremony followed by a fun game of Jogging. Dogs were the topic of discussion for this week and following a short talk from Rusty, Beavers shared in a game of Duck Duck Goose. Beavers from Colony B are also ask- ed to have their registration for the .. '13enmiller Beaveree turned in by May 14. Cubs: Akela and leaders took the meeting to the Huron Conservation Area for a meeting of Outdoor fun and games. Following a game of soccer the Cubs gathered together to roast marshmallows. 'Scouts: A special THANK YOU to all who gave pledges for Trees for Canada. At the regular` meeting Scouts are again preparing for 0181. Knife and axe sharpening and handling were discussed followed by a brief discussion of back packs which will be continued further at the next meeting. Scouts then joined in •a game of Dodge Ball to bring the meeting to a close. The speaker will be the Rev. John Anderson of Fullerton, Ontario. Rev. Anderson's parents were Presbyterian missionaries in South Africa where he was born. The family will be returning to New Zealand in July when Mr. Anderson will have compacted his one year's exchange duties in Fullarton. +++ Larry McClinchey, who has just completed his year at Althouse College of Education, London, was chosen to be the recipient of :the Opthnist -International- Technological Education Studies trophy. Later they went outside and played a : me of dodge ball. On April 14, the Brownies met at the Legion Hall, The girlsmade cards for Easter and they would like to thank Donna Harris for her help at the last two meetings. On April 21, the Golden Bar girls went for a nature walk. When they got back they played a nature game with the different things that they had found. The Golden Hand girls worked on their group work. Junior Leader, Anne Levis taught the girls a few new games. On April 28, test night was held with the girls trying for two badges each. Thanks to Barb Guse, the tester, for the night. The Brownies would also • like to thank Barb Hodgins for teaching them about first-aid. The girls also talked about different things that they would grow in a garden and how they would do it.
