fractured her hip on April 17
and undergoing surgery for

Mrs. Bob Burns returned
home on April 25 after
having eye surgery at
Victoria Hospital in London.
She spent a week with her
daughter Mr. and Mrs. Colin
Paterson in London.
Visiting Tuesday to Friday

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Allen
returned home on April 26

Maitland and the 16th
folk head to the south

Several people m the com-
munity have been off to spots
in the south while we were
having beautiful weather
here. Maybe we should send
them back and send the rain
with them. Jack Tebbutt was
off for 10 days to the Florida
Keys testing his scuba gear.
Barb and Brenda Forbes
went to Cancun, Mexico for a
pleasant week of holidays.
Doug and Gertrude Feagan
spent two weeks at Myrtle
Beach, South Carolina.
Easter weekend Gerry,
Shirley, and Wendy Tebbutt
from Bettendorf, Iowa were
visiting with Irvine and
Edith Tebbutt. Gerry stayed
until Thursday before he
returned home.
Congratulations to Sylvia
Forbes on graduating from
L.ambton College. Murray
and Marlene Forbes have
another granddaughter.
Katherine and Tom Ar-
chibald of Edmonton, Alber-
ta, had a baby girl, Friday,
April 24.
While most of us were
planning for the dance last
Friday evening a few in the
community were not feeling
too well. We all wish a
speedy recovery to Gertrude
Feagan who is home from
Clinton Hospital and also to
Jean Lobb who is a patient in
Stratford Hospital.
The Happy Hookers Ball
was held Friday evening in
Goderich Township Com-
munity Centre. A good tur-
nout made it a very suc-
cessful venture and the "H -
Hs" are thankful to all who
attended. The door prizes

On Sunday afternoon,
April 26, a Poker Rally Trail
Ride was held at the con-
servation area at the former
Shannahan farm.
There were 43 riders in the
ride, one pony, one Jenny
and 41 horses that completed
a seven mile ride.
Also this year for the first
there were nine bike riders
that rode a five mile course.
There were 100 poker
hands sold, with the follow-
ing winners. First prize went
to Lee Flowers of' Bayfield:
She also won the best hand
for a senior citizen. Second
place went to Liza Watt of
Londesboro and third to
Barb Morello of Mitchell`.
Fourth prize went to Ann
Marie Thurlow of
Londesboro and fifth to
Roger Boersen.
Ribbons and prizes were

food at the lunch booth.
There is a Trail Ride plan-
ned to be held on May 24 and
by then the stiffness will be
gone and they'll be ready to
go again.

Mrs. - J. Merner of Kit-
chener visited on Friday
with Mrs. Carl Merner,
Michael and Shelley.
On Friday evening there
was some excitement
around the Paul Stevenson
home.
Happenings from
Hallett Central
On Tuesday, April 14 the
Hullett Central School held
its annual Spring Concert.
Kindergarten 2, grade 1 and
2, grades 7 and 8, senior
choir and the band par-
ticipated. The Grade 7 and 8
class did an operetta entitled
Joseph and his Amazing
Technicolour Dreamcoat. A
good, crowd turned out and
an excellent job was done by
all who participated.
Pre-school classes
On Thursdays, pre-school
children come to the school
in they afternoon for a
library hour. They have
stories and crafts. They also
can take books out of the
library. Mrs. Hallam, our
librarian, conducts these
classes. They will last until
the end of the school year.

smoke all around the home
and fire coming out of the
chimney. Arriving at the
home he found Diane and
family at home. The Clinton
Fire Department was called,
but the fire was out by the
time they arrived, so since
all was well, the Dillons, the
Merners and the Stevensons
celebrated Carl's birthday
which just happened to be
that day.
