Kipper Memorial Chapel in Waterloo was the setting when Lloy Shaddick, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Shaddick of Londesboro became the bride of Dirk Carlicks on March
21, 1981. Following a reception at the Westmount Golf and Country Club in Waterloo, the
couple took a wedding trip to the West Coast. They are residing in Kitchener.

The Londesboro United
congregation gathered at the
church on April 17 for the
annual Good Friday service.
Jim Jamieson welcomed the
people at the door and the
ushers were John and
Elizabeth Lawson, Darlene
Hulley and Brenda Nesbitt.
Rev. Scott led the service
and sang two special solo
numbers. His sermon was
about Jesus and the other
two on the cross.
At Sunday morning's
Easter service Jim
Jamieson and Carol Cart-
wright greeted the
congregation members at
the door, and they were
ushered into the church by
Stephen Kennedy, Michael
Radford, Scott Overboe and
Gary Wilts. Rev. Scott sang
a solo prior to the service.
He announced that funeral
services for Norman Wright
were scheduled to take place
on April 21. The flowers in
the church were placed in
memory of Tom Beattie,
whose funeral was held on
April 17. The UCW groups
placed the Easter lilies
For the children's story,
Mr. Scott spoke about Jesus
rising from the dead on the
third day and the children
remained in the church for
the entire service instead of
leaving for their Sunday
School classes.
The choir sang - a special
Easter hymn with Barbara
Bosman as the choir director
and Louise McGregor at the
organ. Clerk of the session,
Margaret Whyte called
Suzanne Tamblyn and her
elder, her father, Jack
Tamblyn to the front of the
church for confirmation.

Couples bowling
All the bowlers in the
Londesboro Couples Bowling
League are reminded that
the final games of the season
will be held on Sunday, April
26. All bowlers, regulars and
spares, are invited to bowl
and enjoy the luncheon
which will be held af-
terwards at the church.
At the luncheon next
year's executive, which has
already been chosen by
hidden score, will be an-
nounced.
Spring concert ,
The Hullett Central
School's spring concert was
played to a full house last
week and principal Angus
McLennan welcomed
everyone and acted as
emcee for the evening.
The concert opened with a
school band, the Grade 1
class presented the skit, How
Eggs and Easter Got
Together, and sang three
Easter songs. The second
kindergarten class acted out
The Boy and the Billy Goat
Three, the senior choir sang
special numbers, and the
Grade 2 class sang several
numbers. Grades 7 and 8
presented a musical Joseph
and His Technicolored
Dream Coal.

Shuffleobard '0,players met
on April 15 for another round
of play and the results were:
ladies' high, Vietta Hoggart;
ladies' low, Hazel Reid;
men's high, Clare Vincent; hear about disabled
men's low, Bob Thompson.
Audrey Thompson and Bert
Shobbrook were the high
winners intheplay-offs.
The next evening of
shuffleboard was scheduled
for April 22.

Shaddick's family held
Easter on Saturday and with
them were Jeffrey, Karin
and Stephen Shaddick of
Brantford, Lloy and Dirk
Garlichs of Kitchener and
Ruth Shaddick of Clinton.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Lyons of St. Helens visited on
Sunday with their son Mr.
and Mrs. John Lyons, Sara

Mr. Keith Vivian was
admitted to Clinton Public
Hospital on Sunday.
We are sorry to report the
death of one of our residents,
Mr. Tom Beattie who died at
the age of 73 at Huronview.
He had been in poor health
for thenast fourmonthc
Sympathy is extended to
Mrs. Norman Wright on the
death of Mr. Wright at the
Clinton Public Hospital on
April 17. He was 76 years old.
Sympathy is also extended to
Mr. Wright's brother and
sisters.

on a new great grandson,
Darrell, who was born at St.
Joseph's Hospital in, IAop
on April 12 to Pete and
Sherry Postma at RR 4,
Clinton.
Mrs. Clara Riley enjoyed a
bus trip last weekend to
Wheeling, West Virginia and
Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Bob Burns underwent
Musical award
Congratulations go out to
Mrs. Gail Lear who brought
honor to Londesboro with her
high marks. Gail learned
last week from the Ontario
Registered Music Teachers
Association that she will be
receiving the Cora Akens
award at their convention in
Hamilton on July 4.
This award is given for the
highest mark obtained in
piano pedagogy (teacher's
written) examination in 1980
with the Western Ontario
Conservatory of Music in
London and the Royal
Conservatory of Music in
Toronto.
Gail's mark was 93 and her
teacher was Mrs. Winona
McDougall of Blvth.

their April 4 meeting in the
church and Mrs. Margaret

hymn was sung, with Hattie

UCW met on April 13 et the
church and president Helen
Lee opened the meeting with
a thought on gentleness.
President Marion Snell led
the responsive reading and
Hattie Wood played the
piano. Crystal Whyte en-
tertained the group by
playing two hymns on the
piano.
The roll call was answered
by 17 members and 19

Mrs. Lee introduced the
guest speaker, Mrs. Myrtle
Vodden of Blyth and she

throughout her lifetime.
Mrs. Vodden also revealed
some startling facts about
the lack of financial support
from the government.

Hospital.
Stephen Duizer underwent
surgery on his appendix on
Peril 15 at the Clinton
hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Radford returned home on
April 14 after spending the
winter months in Palm
Beach, Florida.

Mrs. Scott's mother Mrs.
Clifford Smith of Montreal.

McEwing returned home on
April 16 after spending four
months near Haines City,
Florida.
