Clutton deaths
Norman Foster Wright
A Goderich Township
native and lifetime resident
of the area, Norman Foster
Wright, died in Clinton
Public Hospital on April 17.
He was 76 years old.
Mr. Wright was born on
September 10, 1904 to David
and Lucy Wright. He
received his education at the
Summerhill public school,
and in. September 1932 he
married the formerIda
Louisa Josling. The couple
farmed in Goderich
Township.
Mr. Wright is survived by
his wife, three sisters .Olive
Penfound of Goderich
Township, Mrs. Norman
(Mary) Mair of Stratford,
Mrs. David (Mable) McLeod
of Mitchell, and one brother
George of Clinton.
Funeral services were
held at the Ball Funeral
Home in Clinton on April 21
and Rev. Scott of the Lore
desbofo United. church of
1T CInterment followed
in Ball's Cemetery in Hullett
Township.
The pallbearers included
Garnet Wright of Lore
desboro, Elgin Penfound oa
Londesboro, Neil Josling of
Clinton, Arnoki Riley of
Clinton, Lloyd Penfound of
Auburn and Wayne Fisher of
London.
The flower bearers were
Don McGregor of RR 1,
Brucefiekl and Ken Vodden
of RR 1, Londesboro.
Elmer C. Beacom
Elmer C. Beacom a World
War I veteran with the 133rd
fgattalion, who was wounded
at the Passchendaele battle,
died in Toronto's Sun-
nybrook Medical Centre on
April 15.
Mr. Beacom was the
beloved husband of the
former Gladys Field and the
father of Mary Agnes Lord of
Caracus, Venezula. Mr,
Beacom is also survived by
by his grandchildren John
David and Linda May Lord,
and his sister Mrs. Fred
(Cela) Sioman of Clinton,
Funeral, ,serviices. .were
held otiApriI$1 In the chapel
of the Tull Funeral Home in
Toronto. Interment followed
in the Maitland Cemetery in
Goderich.

Some of the children were frightened, while others went right up and made friends with
the Pullen horse, as the Clinton nursery school visited the Pullen farm last Tuesday and

Spring has certainly
arrived and no where Is It
more evident than at the
Clinton Early Childhood
Education Centre (ECEC).
The children are enjoying
the warm Weather which has
allowed them to go on
several excursions. During
the past month they have
visited the Royal Bank, the
IGA store, the Public Works
shed, the Clinton hospital,
the fire hall and the Hullett
Wildlife Management Area.
Visits to the post office, Don
Pullen's farm and
Ferguson's Apiaries are also'
planned.
A fund raising spring
dance, held on March 21,
realized a profit of $284 and
special thanks goes out to
Louise Glbbingi and Cindy
Fleet who worked to make
the dame a success.
The ECSC has elected a
new executive for the 1981.82
school year. The officers
include: president, Jean
Bircham; vice president,
Marilyn Parr; second vice
and in hand
president, Arlene McCowan;
secretary, Ann Ball;
treasurer, Sue Le Beau;
registrar, Judy Dixon.
The executive is made up
of mothers who have
volunteered to help make the
co-operative nursery a
worthwhile organization.
The nursery will be
holding an open house on
Wednesday, April 29 from 7-
8:30 pm at the Wesley Willis
United Church. The open
house will allow the public an
opporunity to see what the
Radars hear about disabled
Members of the Golden
Radar senior citizens club of
Clinton enjoyed a very In-
teresting program at their
regular meeting in the Town
Hall on Wednesday evening,
April 15, which centred on
two subjects - "The Year of
the Disabled" and "Easter".
Mrs. Edna Stewart, who
attended a UCW
Presbyterial in Central
United Church, Stratford on
April 13, spoke briefly about
the two guest speakers.
These two men are confined
to wheelchairs and are
without the use of arms or
legs: Myron Angus is an ar-
tist, painting and writing by
mouth; Larry Parsons is
deeply involved . with the
Easter celebrated at Huronview
Rev. Wittick conducted the
Sunday morning service at
Huronview on April 12 with
Mrs. Elsie Henderson at the
organ. The choir sang the
anthem Eact Step I Take,
and Lorne Lawson, Wilson
McCartney, Stan Hillen
assisted Marie Flynn to-
provide old tyme music on
Monday afternoon.
There were quite a few
orders for Easter rabbits
and the ceramic class were
working on these on Tuesday
afternoon, while at the same
time, Rev. Broadfoot con-
dUcted a consultation service
for the Anglican residents.

helped all residents with
birthdays in the month of
April celebrate. There was
an excellent programme

accompanied Jim McCall,
while he played several
selections on the violin. A
familiar face to the residents
was Rev. Bob Scott, who
sang You Light Up My Life,
followed by songs ap-
propriate for the Easter
season such as Rise Again,
Jesus, HHIs•The Son Of God.

The WMS of Carmel
Presbyterian Church in Hen-
sall was entertained at the
manse in Exeter on Monday
evening. The president, Mrs.
Robert Bell opened the
meeting with two poems.
Bertha MacGregor was in
charge of the devotional and
Mrs. Jean Snell read the
scripture. Mrs. MacGregor
led in prayer and presented
the Easter message, closing
with prayer and a hymn. An
invitation was received from
the First • Presbyterian
Church in Seaforth on April
28. The visiting committee
gave their report and ar-
rangements were made for a
birthday party in June.
Mrs. Kathy Bell will be in
charge of the May meeting.
Mrs. Bell concluded the
meeting with.a:poem.
Mrs. Al Hoggarth presided
for the ladies' meeting and
opened with a poem.
Marlene Bell reported for
the cards and treats.
Table arrangements were
made for the Daffodil Tea
and Bake Sale on April 15.
Flowers will be placed in the
church on Easter Sunday
and it was announced that
the Watchmen will present
an evening of music on May
3rd in the Church.
Pot Luck Supper
The Three Links Senior
Citizens held,their April
meeting on Tusday evening
commencing with a pot luck
supper. Mrs. Bell presided
for the business meeting
with Mrs. Alf Ross at the
piano.
The Spring Rally will be
held at Vanastra on April 28
with registration from 9:30
to 10:30 a.m. Volunteers for
cars were received and
members are to take a box
lunch and prizes for bingo at
Huronview.
The entertainment com-
mittee of Mrs. Rennie and
Bertha MacGregor directed
progressive euchre and the
prize winners were: ladies'
high, Annie Reid; ladies'
consolation, Helen Ander-
son; gent's high, Alf Ross;
gent's low, John Anderson;
lone hands, Clarence
Volland.
Chiselhurst UCW meet —
The Chiselhurst UCW held
their monthly meeting on
Tuesday afternoon at, the
manse in Hensall. President,
Mrs. Dorothy Brintnell open-
ed the meeting with a poem.
Mrs. Dick Taylor conducted
the Easter worship and
various reports were read.
A donation will be sent to
the Bunny Bundle. Mrs. Alf
Ross read an Easter poem
and Mrs. Edith Land-
sborough gave an interesting
account of her trip to China.
She was thanked by Helen
Roberts and presented with
a gift. Mrs. Brintnell thank-
ed all for assisting with the
meeting. Rev. McDonald
closed the meeting with
prayer. Hostesses were
Freda Boa and Sarah Dick.

photographs for a studio in
Goderich in 1876, then bought
the studio in 1881. His pic-
tures were of a conventional
nature until 1.x.7, when he
began to use • natural
surroundings for portraits,
rather than studio settings.
Jennifer brought along
several of Sallows'
photographs which belong to
her family, and this enabled
everyone to see the progress
and the excellence of his
work.
During the business
meeting, Rose Cooke read
the list of winners from the
March 28 dance. The door
prize, a ' mantle clock
donated by Anstett
Jewellers, was won by Steve
and Robena Tyndall. The
quilt draw was won by
Robert Cook of Goderich and
spot dances were won by
Bert and Helen Lyon, Keith
and Jill Roulston, Pat and
Bud Bell, and Gordon
Shobbrook and Helen Lyon.
A note of special thanks
was given to Anstett's for
their generous donation.
In other business, rides
were arranged for the
Founder's Day dinner which
will be held in Mitchell on
April 30. It was decided not
to attend the Stratford
Festival this year, but to
make arrangementsto at-
tend a performance at the
Blyth Summer Festival
theatre.
The April 28 meeting has
been cancelled and the Zeta
Omegas will meet again at
Shirley Mills' home on May
12.

Say I Do, I'm Healed, sung
by Rev. Scott. With Hattie
Wood at the piano, the
residents' enjoyed a hymn
sing of favourite old hymns.
Happy Birthday was sung to
the residents celebrating
their birthdays after
receiving their cards. A cup
of tea and a cupcake con-
cluded the much enjoyed
afternoon.
This week the residents
also enjoyed a visit and
program by the Har-
bouraires from Goderich,
and would like to thank
Margaret Mitchell again for
her generoua,donatiori of the
Easter Basket which was
won by Beatrice Allin, R.R.
5; Goderich. Thanks also
goes to Rartliffs Bakery for
their kind donation again

beautiful old-fashioned
Easter costume, sang two
lovely Easter solos. Mary
Grigg, on behalf of the club
extended a vote of thanks to
Mrs. Stewart and Mrs.
Baker.
A very beautiful hand-
crafted afghan and two mat-
ching I, cushions were
presented to the club by one
of the members, Mrs. Reta
Wright. Plans were made to
hold a raffle on these gifts. A
supply of tickets will be
prepared to sell at 50c each
or three for $1.00 and the
draw will take place at our
Christmas banquet in
December.
The business session of the
meeting was conducted by
president George Rumball.
All reports were read and
approved, while sick and
shut-ins were remembered
with flowers, cards and
visits. Forty-one members
and two visitors were pre-
sent.
Members were again
reminded of the Zone 8 Spr-
ing Rally to be held at
Vanastra on April 28, with
registration 9:30 - 10:30 am,
also that the Clinton club will
be entertained by the Kinette
club at the next meeting on
May 6.
Sheets with information of
spring bus tours being spon-
sored by MacKay Centre for
Seniors, Goderich, were
available on the table for
those interested.
Ten games of progressive
euchre were then conducted
'by the social committee.
Winners of high prizes were
Bernice Brown and Nellie
Nott, and low prize winners
were Blanche Stephenson
and Jessie Jones. Two
travelling Easter eggs were
won by Reta Wright and
Margaret Fremlin. The
lunch table was decorated
with an Easter motif and
yellow streamers.

particularly welcome to see
the ECSC facilities and hear
about the educational
program that is offered.
Registration forms will be
available at the open house.
Another treat is in store for
the children on May 7 at3 pm
when the Clinton high school
band, led by Robb Parr, will
visit the nursery. After
meeting the band, the
children will begin preparing
their own instruments in
preparation for their
gradution. This year, each
class will have their own
graduation, complete with
diplomas and treats.
A possible tour of
MacDonald's is being
planned for June 2, and on
June 4 the APPSLAD
banquet will be held at..the
Pinerdige Chalet orf June 4.
