MiddletoH congregation celebrates the Easter season at St.

The Good Friday service
in St. James Anglican
Church in Middleton was
based on the Seven Words
from the Cross. Readers
were Blanche Deeves, John
Deeves, Lisa Storey, Sarah
Storey, Audrey Middleton,
Ray Wise and Margaret
Middleton.
Rev. William Bennett led
the service and the offering
was received by Ray Wise
and Don Middleton. The
cross was uncovered at the
conclusion of the service.
The Easter Sunday service
was well attended at St.
James and Rev. Bennett
greeted the congregation as
they entered the church.
Communion was held with
Canon Paull giving a special
reading and helping to serve
the breadaLidwine.

placed by Mrs. Fred Mid-
dleton and her family in
memory of Mr. Fred Mid-
dleton. The ACW placed
Easter lilies in the sanc-
tuary.
Canon Paull led the ser-
mon and the offering was
collected by Keith Miller and
John Deeves.

slide presentation. The
Cookes took part in an
African safari two year ago,
and their trip will be
recounted' in this special.

The ACW bus trip is all set
to go And will take place on
May 6. A second bus now has
over 20 seats filled and this
tour will be held on Tuesday,
May 26. The secondtue Will

Bill Counter of Clinton.

employee
Tom Sinclair was hired as
the new township road
employee at $6.50 per hour
for a three month
probationary period when
Goderich Township Council
held a special meeting to
interview seven applicants
for the position on March 30.
Sinclair started his new
job April 1. If he is still ac-
ceptable after the three
month probationary period,
his wages will be raised to $7
per hour plus benefits for the
remainder of the year.
Water systems owned by
the township and serving two
plans of subdivision were
also discussed at the special
meeting. The clerk was
instructed to contact the
Ministry of Environment
regarding the status of one
well and the water line
belonging to it. He was also
instructed to check with the
solicitor regarding the
method of collecting water
rates.
A motion was passed to
hire J.B.M. to install four
circulating fans in the
auditorium of the new
township hall as per tender.
Blue Anchor, a company
which wants to build a
condominium in the town-
ship, has requested the
township to appoint an
engineer to. check its
proposals. Council passed a
motion at its special meeting
that before the township
engage an engineer, Blue
Anchor must submit, in
writing, an approval to pay
those expenses incurred by
the township for an
engineering study and a
brief on the design and
proposals for the con-
dominium.
