As a result, I will be drummed out of the teachers' union, which has urged all teachers to vote against the Liberals. Why? Because the Liberals have chosen education as one of their sacred cows to attack. And not a bad choice. The public, as well as many teachers, is fed up to the ears with the present educational system. Include me in. I think the system, which by the way was arm chitectured by the present provincial premier when he was Minister of Education, niether knows where it has been nor where it is going. '1t is 'fuu'of brilliant young- - people with new ideas, old fogies who fight the new ideas at every turn, and middle-aged nyerps who can't seepast salaries and pensions. Bury me not on the lone prairie. Bury me instead under a heap of frustrated young people who are getting neither an adequate education for a job, nor an adequate education for life with a capital L. Professor Josephine Meeker, a specialist in historical and cultural geography with Brock University in St. Catharines, will be speaking on the Perseverance on the Land at the meeting which will be held at the Clinton's Central Huron Secondary School on Princess Street. The Clinton Women's Institute (WI) is sponsoring the general meeting which gets underway at '8 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend, and memberships for the society are available at $2 each and $3 a couple, with an additional $1 for members of a family. Far the past 17 years, . the Historical Society has been collecting and preserving the history of Huron County. Founded in 1964, the society. now has more than 200 members, many who have helped collect documents, records and historical in- formation which is stored in an archives room at the Huron County Library in Goderich. Each year the society publishes two newsletters and one volume of the Huron " Historical Notes. As well, they hold several workshops and information meetings during the year, usually hosted by local WI groups, such as the upcoming meeting in Clinton. On May 27, the society will meet in Wfngham for a tour of theWingham Museurn and a study on the town's past. Following the 7:30 pm tour the group will meet at the town hall at 8 pm where Les Jacklin will speak on the history of Wingham.
