They enjoyed an excellent tur- nout. (James Fitzgerald photo) Bayfield dance makes a profit The Bayfield Recreation Committee met last Thursday at the Municipal Building. The final figures from the `Spring Training Dance' were . available and indicated that there was a substantial profit made on the event. The report on the Senior Citizens recreational slow pitch baseball was not available. It would appear from research done by Matty Francis, that the summer badminton program will be available in .a few weeks. Final details are now being worked out. Heading up the soc cer this season are Brian Van Biesbrock, Bob Madsen and Rev. Alun Thomas. The survey and staking of the new ball diamond will take place this weekend if the weather permits. The Agricultural Society will then review the findings before any further work can commence as any structure on the `Fair Grounds' is sub- ject to their approval. A special meeting will be held next week to finalize plans for registration dates and the purchase of equip- ment Middleton By anche Deeves The monthly meeting of the Middleton ACW was held last Thursay in Dungannon at the home of Marion Smith. Lois Srnith, leader in charge, thanked Marion for the use of her home and she welcomed the ladies to the meeting. Lois gave a , reading, the invocation and the scripture and the meditation was given by Jeanne Bennett. Mrs. Bennett read the minutes of the last meeting and Vera Miller gave the treasurer's report. Lois Smith gave a report on the group's foster child, Josilia Norestin, from Haiti and read a letter from her. Members were reminded that Steve and Rosie Cooke will be presenting a slide show of their Afrlcna safari ti'►P at the 'church oh Apr&I23. Vera Miller will purchase an Easter lily for the church and it was decided to send a cheque of $40 to the annual meeting in London. A motion was also made to pay the Deanery fee of $5. Mrs. Koening of New Castle will be the guest speaker at theACW's.May 14 meeting. She will show a film on the Dini Nation and speak about Project North. A flea market and social time will follow the meeting. Judy McMichael of the Jana Health Foods-; in Goderich was the speaker at the April meeting. She ex- plained that there are many ways in which the natural products available • in her store can improve cooking and nutrition. Church news There was a good at- tendance on Sunday at St. James Anglican Church for the Palm Sunday service. Following the first hymn, the pahms were blessed and Sarah Storey gave the reading. Rev. William Bennett's sermon was entitled A Royal Procession and Ray Wise and Don Middleton received the offering. Shirley visited with Muriel Grigg and both en- joyed visiting with old friends and neighbors. Thursday, April 23 is the date to remember!
