By Steve Cooke
Well, I'm back even
though you may not know it
from this column. I would
sincerely like to thank John
Scott for taking over for me
and doing an excellent job.
He seemed to cover all the
events very well with a style
that is smooth, easy reading
and jam packed full of info.
As I said, I don't have
much forl this column, as
there was only one lonely
note at the bar, and another
tidbit from Don Armstrong.
The big news is that one of
our euchre teams qualified
for the Provincial Tour-
nament to be held in Corn-
wall on May 23rd. The team
of John Deeves, Russ
Beyers, George Rumball and
Bill Harris placed 3rd in the
District competition which
qualifies them for the
Provincial. We all wish them
luck and how theyaate bring
home a trophy for Branch
140.
Last week at men's
Al tin„r•r,,,►, +,'rued
in an 86 for the high score
and Ken McDougall played
six lone hands. John Anstett
Jr. turned in the low score of
53, which on an average is
pretty high. Everyone must
have been really trying to
have a good game to get the
old average up. After all, it
was their last chance.
This week, the euchre
banquet was held on
Tuesday night to signal the
end of another season. We'll
publish the names ( and
maybe some photos) of the
overall winners in next
week's edition. I'm sure that
next year will see every bit
as good a turnout as we've
had this past season.
Well, that's all I've been
able to scratch up for news
this week If I don't start
doing better, I'll probably be
replaced by John on a full
time hears .-.fu9n ening _-the
job he did, maybe that's not
a bad idea after all.
Hmmmmmm- we'll think on
that!
