So you have invited your
new neighbour over for a
visit. You have heard his
views on Certain subjects do
not exacUy coincide with
your own, - but a get
acquanited visit isn't exactly
the time and place for a
battleground. You would be
einbarrassed if your other
neighbours took it upon
themselves to openly insult
your guest.
This "could be"' situation
became a reality on
Tuesday, March 10, as
Canada entertained the new
President of the United
States following an invitation
by her own prime minister.
The ugly demonstrations on
Parliament Hill including
the burning of an American
flag in lull view I of the
assembled throng, no matter

It would be a poor world
indeed without the Red
Cross.
It has entry to all the world
where help is needed - a
power no other group has.
In war and peace they are
busy bringing relief in
floods, earthquakes,
hurricanes and supplying
prisoner of war parcels.
Their work is endless and it
is done mostly by volunteers
In Clinton, this year's
committee is comprised of
Mr. Ken Flett, Mrs. Wynne
Homuth, Mrs. Marg. Allen,
Mr. Ed. Godkin, Mrs.
Colleen Phillips, and Mrs.

Beavers visit Sch. e bush
Beavers of Colony A and
Colony B shared in an outing
and visited the Schilbe Sugar
Bush Saturday morning.
Although Beavers expected
the bush to have tees with
branches dripping with
sugar and candy they still
hada fun morning. •
Following a hike through
the bush, which led us to the
maple sugar shanty Bert
Schilbe was waiting to give
the Beavers a look at how
maple syrup is made. Doris
was also on hand to treat the
Beavers with maple sugar
candy and syrup. The syrup
tasted delicious on the
pancakes that were waiting
for the Beavers at the home
of Anna Stirling.
The colony wishes to thank
Bert and Doris Schilbe for an
interesting tour. Also special
thanks to Anna Stirling for
the use of her home and to
volunteer helpers Joan
Crawford, Larry Glbbings,
Ear -Fait oiler,B etfirl. tv"-
and Allison Lobb.
Beaver Colony A:
Thanks to Howard
Edwards the Beavers now
have a new friend which was
promptly named "Eager".
Eager will be on hand each
week with his other friends
to greet. Beavers as they
arrive in the pond.
Airplanes soared into the
Colony with fun on the wing
Thursday . night to begin an
evening revolving around
airplanes. Head to head
airplance ball was our
opening game followed by
airplane relay a new game
led by Bubbles. While
Hawkeye assisted the
Beavers, in handicrafting
airplanes Tic Tac, Bubbles,
Keeo and Rusty soared
Beavers one by one to
faraway places on airplane
rides. Our airplane night
ended with a story on flying
and sharing session.
A reminder to parents of
Colony A that next week is
"Space Night". Beavers are
asked to _ come dressed in
spacey costumes for a night
of far-out fun. Also
rememberthe skating party
for both Colony A and 11.
Sunday March 5, 1981 from 4
-p.m.-to 5--p.m-Check-your
newsletter for other details.
Beaver Colony B:
Double circle dodge ball
was the gathering game
followed by trolls; goats and
lots of fun at the Tuesday
night colony. Rainbow read
the story of "Ugly Trolls"
before dividing the Beavers
into lodges to create Trolls
from tissue rolls. The closing
game was goats and trolls a
new game introduced by
Rusty.
Out of the mouths of
Beavers this week tells us
that when Rainbow
reminded the Beavers to
wear old clothing on the
outing last Saturday one
Beaver replied 'Not to
worry, all his clothes were
unbreakable."
A reminder to parents of
Colony B that Beavers will
be visiting the police -station.
March 17. Check newsletter
for details.
Cubs:
When Lord Baden-Powell,
the man who started
Scouting decided to do
something for boys who were
not old enough to join the
Scout Troop he remembered
the stories and adventures
from a story called "The
Jungle Book" written by a
friend of his. This book tens
of _the exciting adifeeiitures of -
a boy who lives in the forest
with a pack of wolves led by
a wolf ca lied Akela.
To help the Cubs fully
understand the background
of the Wolf Cubs the pack
leaders asked the Cubs to
come dressed last week as
animals of the jungle. Akela
talked to the Cubs of dif-
ferent animals and their
habits before dividing them
into packs to learn more on
the animal of their six pack.
Scouts:
It is now less than four
months until the Canadian
Jamboree. Anyone involved
with Scouting is anxiously
looking forward to seeing the
Clinton Scout Troop
represent us in Alberta. The
Scouts will be part of the
largest youth gathering ever
held in Canada. The 5th
Canadian Jamboree,
nicknamed "CJ 81" will
bring together -more than
15,000 young Canadians all of
whom are members of
Canvass
results
Scouting. They will be
meeting to have fun, to
achieve in response to
challenge and to enjoy the
good fellowship of brother
Scouts.
Clinton Scouts will get to
meet brother Scouts who live
in different parts of Canada
and to make new friends and
perhaps develope a greater
understanding of fellow
Canadians. •
Scouts will be busy fund
raising in We next month
including a bottle drive on
March 21, 1981. Please help
send the Clinton Scouts to
Alberta.
