Curlers hostFun Night
On February 21 the
Vanastra Curling Club
hosted the Bayfield Fun
Night.
Winners of the lst draw
were: skip, Ivan Lince,
Vanastra; vice, Matty Fran-
cis, Bayfield; second, Doris
Cantelon, Vanastra and
lead, Helga Bell, Bayfield.
Other prize winners were:
skip, Bob Orr, Bayfield;
vice, Rosemary Sellars,
Vanastra; second, Stu
Broadfoot, Vanastra; and
lead, Marg Rogerson,
Vanastra.
Winners of the second
draw were. skip, Bob Orr,
Bayfield; vice, Lois Evans,
Vanastra; second, Paul
Gosse, Bayfield; and lead,
Jenny Russo, Vanastra.
Other prize winners were:
skip, Vic Evans, Vanastra;
vice, Vera Miller, Bayfield;
second, Sam Russo,
Vanastra and lead, Norma
Gosse, Bayfield.
Turkey Shoot wigners
were George Cantelon and
Ann Zwaan. Thanks goes to
the Vanastra Ladies for pro-
viding the pot luck meal and

Students hear fine music
On Tuesday, February 17
the -Grade t, 5 -arid rs pripilz.
visited the Seaforth District
High School. There they en-
joyed a concert performed
by the London Symphonic,-
the professional core of the
London Symphony Or-
chestra. The versatility of
this group of musicians was
appreciated by all.
On Thursday the school
had a public speaking con-
test. Six pupils rear:nented

• Chris Edwards spoke on
turtles, Tina Jeffrey spoke
on Girl Guides, Colin
Thomas outlined the story of
Wolf Cubs, Heather
Brownridge spoke on the
Space Shuttle, Liana
Chevrier told the audience
about commercials and
Terri Evans talked about the
endangered species of
Christians honor
Lord Baden Powell
On Sunday a special
Thinking Day service was
held at the Christian Church
to help remember the
founders of the Scout and
Guide movements Lord and
Lady Baden-Powell.
Organist was Evelyn
ManteL
There will be an annual
church meeting on March
2nd at 8 p.m. in the church.
There will be reports on
finances, Sunday School,
Vacation Bible School, Come
Alive, Young People,
Women's Bible Group,
Refugee Fellowship,
Evangelism Outreach and
community use of facilities.
The Stratford C.R. Church
Choir will also perform. The.
film Touching with presenta-
tion and discussion on the
power of touch will also be
shown. Refreshments will be
served.
Where are all the singers?
Junior Choir leaders, Moira
Robinson and Evelyn Mantel
are willing to lead and prac-
tice with the choir but more
boys and girls are needed. It
is also necessary to come to
every practice.

This Friday, February 27
at 7 p.m. in the Vanastra

5th, and will be held the first
Friday of every mtinth.

ed Mrs. Dorothy Williams,
Mr. Frank Falconer and Mr.
Al Taylor.
After the contest the
judges discussed the presen-
tations with each of the
speakers. The winners of
this contest represented the
school on February 24th at
the Royal Canadian Legion
in Clinton. Terri Evans plac-
ed '1st ,and Heather
Brownridge came 2nd. Colin
Thomas placed 3rd and was
to represent the school if one
of the other speakers was
unable to be present on Tues-
day evening.
On February 26 the
Kindergarten to Grade 3
pupils' attended a puppet
play, Hansel and Gretel at
the Huron Centennial School
in Brumfield.
On Friday, March 6th Mr.
Hingley, of Canadian School
Studios, will be at the school
to take school pictures. The
package ordered is similar
to the ones ordered in the

Jack Riddell is a graduate of the University of Guelph, with a B.
Sc. in Agriculture. He is a former high school teacher, having taught
at Clinton and Exeter.
He owns and operates a 200 acre cash -crop farm in Stephen Town-
ship. He is married and has a family of five - one son and four
daughters.
A Liberal member of the Legislature since 1973, he was the
Agricultural critic for the Liberal Party in the last session of the
Provincial Parliament.
