Scott from the Londesboro United Church comes to the Grade 7 class for religious education. These Bible knowledge classes will last for eight weeks. Exciting volleyball On Monday, February 2 the Blyth boys played the Hullett boys at Hullett. Some good games were played but 2l n all three games. Again 'later on in the week on Thursday, February 5, the'Blyth girls did battle with Hullett girls at Hullett. l free very good games were played The scores were 15 - 6 (Hullett), 15 - 12 (Blyth) and 15 - 3 (Hullett) for the girls - . Carling On Thursday, February 4, the grade 7's started the first of five curling sessions. The grade 8's started the next day. They leave the school at 12:30 and return in time for buses at 3:15. They cnrl at the Vanastra Curling Club. The club donated curling brooms and free ice time. A very special thanks to the Vanastra Girling Club. Shuffleboard is popular Hazel Reid took the ladies' high score at last Wednesday night's shuffleboard match. George Hoggart had the men's high. Genvieve Allen was the low lady and Reg Lawson was . the IoW man: Bob and Audrey Thompson were the play-off winners. The next evening of shuffleboard is scheduled for February 25. Explorers meet Jennifer Sottlaux and Lisa group's ninth meeting. Bosman presented the Cry t^1 Wh,•tp r*a`'t' the Explorer emblem at the Explorer picture. Constance news and notes By Mary Merner Florence Mcllwain returned home from Clinton Public Hospital last Wed- nesday. Several from the area participated in the Brocmball Tournament held in Seaforth Mr. and Mrs. Ken Thompson of Goderich visited on Sunday with Mrs. Mary Scott and family. Turn to page 17 • McKi .lolp council meets By Wilma Oke McKillop Township issued building permits amounting to $725,000 in 1980, reported building inspector Eugene McAdam Monday. Included were permits for new buildings and renovations. Council approved ap- plications for two drain loans amounting to $27,000. Passed for payment were road accounts amounting to $13,454.40 and general ac- counts amounting to $6,190.60. Gravel tenders will be advertised which are to be in for the next meeting on March 2. Council wants the gravel to be put on the roads early this year. A discussion was held on the road budget which will be finalized at a later meeting. A letter from the ministry of natural resources reported the deer hunting season last fall was suc- cessful with 103 deer killed. The report said that 885 licences were issued with 728 hunters using them in Huron County and 70 per cent of these hunters were residents of Huron. Murray Howatt The people were ushered into the church by Lisa Duizer, Cheryl Bromley and Karen and Kimberly Wright. Rev. Scott reminded everyone that the skating party will be held this Sunday, starting at 4 p.m. He also noted that applications far camp are now available. He spoke to the children about the Valentine's Day message and the junior teachers were, Helen Lyons and Joan Shepherd. For his sermon, Rev. Scott spoke about the apostle John, and how Jesus reformed him. Bowling results For January Dorothy Airdrie had the high single of 323 and the high triple of 733. Helen Wallace, with 270, was the runner-up for the high " single, while Lena Nesbitt was second for the high triple woth 664. Linda Renkema was the most improved player with +19. Penny Overboe had the high average of 189 and was closely followed by Dorothy Airdrie with 188. - Team 2 is topping the standings with 87 points, and Team 1 is close behind with 83. Team 4 is in third place and Team 3 is last. Londesboro LII Handy Hammers The Londesboro III, 4-H Club Handy Hammers met at the home of Marjorie Duizer on February 2. President Diana Shob- brook opened the meeting with the roll call and the 10. members each told about the material and pattern they had chosen. Mrs. Duizer demonstrated the sewing machine workings and the girls pinned their patterns on and completed a quiz- .on their sewing machine knowledge. Lunch was served by Brenda Nesbitt and Combe Hoggart Neighborly news The Young People spon- sored the film "Held For Ransom" on Sunday night, but because of the poor __- weather_ -conditions,-_-not--- many were able to attend.. Rev. Scott showed the film, the collection was received and lunch was served. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lee spent the weekend with his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Rivers at Tweed. Mrs. Rivers returned with them and is visiting with relatives in thearea. Mrs. Margaret Taylor and • Mrs. Jessie McGregor of Seaforth have returned after spending two weeks in Hawaii. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Lee and Chris and Mrs. Rivers -Were guests on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lee. Returning home last Wednesday after a two week trip to Houston, Texas, Grand Canyon and Las Vegas were Art Airdrie, Ross Daer, Hill Vincent, Jim Le Beau, Murray Nesbitt and Alan Caldwell. The Aimwell Unit of the UCW will meet at the home of Mrs. Jack Lee on February 16. Mrs. Carl Nesbitt will demonstrate cake decorations and all ladies are welcome to at- tend. The WI card party will be held on February 13 at. 8:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson spent the. weekend in Ktciener when Robbie and Jennifer Lawrie returned home after spen- ding the week' with their granparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jiro Lawrie in Blyth.' Mr. and Mrs. Norman Alexander returned home last Friday from a two week stay in Toronto.
