Castle's Chestnuts have 106 points, Bonnie's Beemuts have 103, Bircham's Beer - nuts have 99 and Ruby's Cashews and Edgar's Almonds are tied in last place with 98 points apiece. Nancy Roy had the high single of 258. The Chickadees are behind with 50 and the Canaries are still at the bottom of the league with 49 points. Edna Atkinson had the ladies' high single of 243. Marj Moore had the high triple of 686 and the high average of 229. For the men, Murray Johnston had the high single of 307 and the high triple of 739. Ken Johnston had the high average of 242. Those playing games over 225 included Marg Kuiper with 254, Rita Verberg with 232 and Nellie Burkholder with 229. The Corner Pin Curies have a slight lead on first place with 23 points and the Nitwits are next with 22. The Dropbacks have 21, the Bouncy Bunch are next with 19 points, the Born Losers have 18.and the Alley Cats are in last place with 17. Mixed League The Twilighters are in front with 88 points, leaving Bairdzee's Boys in second place with 74.,,.and the Fabulous Fives neap with 71 points. Spike Plus Four ,pre close behind with 70, bit the scoring quickly drops there, leaving Steve's Wonders with 59. Wayne's Girls and the Head Pin Specialists with 56 points each, whsle the Grease Balls have 53. . Jill Jervis had the ladies' high single of 253 and the high triple of 661. Louise Gibbings had the high average of 187. For the men, Bob Falconer was the top player, taking the high single with 297, the high triple of 740 and the high average of 216. Tuckersmith Mixed Sid's Crowbars are holding a. top place position with 95 points, but Warren's Wrenches are close behind with 94 and Veenstra's Vicegrips and Broadfoot's Hammers are tied with 92 points each. John's Jacks are behind with 84 points arid Scottie's Screwdrivers are in last place with 83. Walter Pepper and Ralph Postma tied in the men's high single scoring with 221 -points each. Angus. Prize winners were as follows_ youngest skater, Kimberly Taylor, daughter: of Don and Lorraine; oldest person on skates, 'Mervyn Hayter; largest family on skates, Mac, Janet, Mary Ellen and Mark Webster. Winners in the costume category were: preschoolers, Arran Soudant of Zurich and Matthew Turner of Varna; age 7 to 9, Janet Coleman and Ben Rathwell; 10 to 12, Jerry McBean 'and Julie Consitt; teenagers, Donnie Taylor; adult, the sinister looking old fellow who was eventually identified as Bob Norman. He sure kept people guessing for awhile. Thanks to Jerry d Jen Reid, onr newest Varna residents, for judging the costume classes. The hall beside the rink was filled with people en- joying the refreshments and conversation. Tickets for the dance on April 4 are now available from members of the Recreation Commission. Don't forget the family Poker Rally on Saturday afternoon at the Varna ball park. Cards played There were 12 tables of euchre at the Orange Lodge card party on Friday. UCW meets "Stewardship" was the theme, of the program and worship service at the February meeting of Varna UCW, which was presented by Marg Hayter, Shirley Hill and Elaine Stephenson. An excellent skit on "Priorities" was given lby Shirley and Elaine. Eleanor McAsh and Marg_a.ret Hayter gave. reports on the Huron-Fe annual meeting at Brucefield. Eleanor told of the very entertaining skit put on by the presbyterial committee chairpersons. One of the stars in the skit was the talented comedienne, Anna Keys. The Alma College School for WWmen will be held from August 16 to 19. Marg reported that the offering from the meeting will be divided equally between Mission and Ser- vices and Emmanuel College. The speaker was the minister's wife from Monkton, Betty Nortey, who spoke on "Partners in Crisis".
