Winter Carnival will kick off
on Tuesday of next week. A
lot of organization and plan-
ning has gone into this event
and it promises to be a great
time.
On Tuesday the annual
Student -teacher hockey
game will take part in the
Clinton arena: Game time is
1:30 p.m. and admission is

A tentative agreement has
been reached between the
Huron County Board of
Education and its secondary
school teachers.
This is a tentative agree-
ment and has been ratified
by only one of the parties.
The other side will vote on
the contract next week.
No details were available
press time but the wage in-
-crease should- be- close to 10
percent. The teachers were
asking .for ari increase of 15
percent while the board of-
fered 5.1 percent.
The two sides have been
negotiating on and off since
last March but contract talks
began in earnest with the ap-
pointment of mediator Jef-
frey Gandz from London.
This tentative offer vir-
tually quashes all rumors of
a .strike, since it is a pro-
bability that the other side
will accept the offer.
CHSS this week
On Wed., Feb. 3 the 45
members of the Downhill
Ski -Club went to Collingwood
to ski at Talisman.

There was a Youth Clinic
yesterday (Wed.) 'at CHSS
from 9:30 to 11:30. Aside
from anemia screening and
flouride brushing, rubella
screening was offered to
girls in Grades 12 and 13.

There was a girls'
volleyball tourn.a-ment
yesterday at CHSS. Teams
from the various area high
schools participated. Scores
were however, unknown at
press time.

Today (Thurs. ) the Junior
and Senior boys' basketball
teams are travelling to
Seaforth to play basketball.

Tomorrow at CHSS there
will be a second girls'
volleyball tournament in the
afternoon.. .
Dearborn sold
GODERI( - The entire
assets of Dearborn Steel
Tubing and Manufacturing
Company of Goderich have
been sold and the purchaser
is intent on resurning nor--la1
business operations.
Rick Quinney of Peat
Marwick, London, receiver -
manager for Bank of
Montreal interests, said,
"We have agreed to accept
an offer for all of the assets
of the company. The two
principles will be finalizing
the deal in the next couple of
weeks."
Although Mr. Quinney
would not reveal the name of
the pirchaser until the deal
has been finalized he did say
that "the purchaser is
anxious to resume
operations as quickly as
possible."
There will be a two or
three-week period required
to close the sale and
arrangements have been
made to contact the em-
ployees. Mr. Quinney noted
that the agents received a
whole range of offers but
were more agreeable to
selling all assets to one
party.

the day of Ed's big valen-
tine's dance featuring an ex-
cellent stereo. The kissing
booth will also be a big- at-
traction.

All in all it looks like a
great week so get out there
and participate.
Player of ...e week
Midget basketball player
Austin Roorda is the Player
of the Week. Austin, who is in
Grade 9 is playing in his first
basketball season. He prac-
tises with the team at least
twice a week totally about
three hours each week.
Exercise is one reason
why Austin plays basketball.
Austin says that he likes
playing this sport and even
though this is only his first
year at C.H.S.S. he has been
involved in or plans to be in-
volved in cross country, soc-
cer and track and field as
well.
Austin feels that sports are
an important part of school
because it encourages
students to get more school
spirit, Austin is involved in
swimming and soccer out-
side of school activities in •
Clinton.
Next week, a senior
basketball player will be
featured.
