Bantam tourney continues this week
Although support from
local fans wasn't has high as
expected, the first weekend
of the Optimist Bantam
Hockey Tburnament was a
big success, according to
organizers, and there was
some excellent hockey
played -
The tournament continues
this weekend with games on
Friday night, Saturday
afternoon and evening, with
the the championships to be
held onSunday afternoon.
In action last Thursdday
night, Exeter beat Mitchell
3-1, while the London Minors
buried the Kitchener Rebels
12-0, and Zurich downed
Howick Township 5-1, while
Seaforth nipped Clinton 4-3.
On Friday night, Blyth
beat Hensall 5-2, while
Thedford nipped Zurich 6-5,
Belle River downed Mitchell
6.1, and Oakville 'blanked
Gc deirich8- 0.
In Saturday morning
action, Exeter and Belle tied
1-1, while Howick Twp.
dumped Thedford 8-5,
Brampton beat Pickering 5-2
and Owen Sound skated to 6-2
win over Oakville.
On Saturday afternoon,
Creemore downed Thedford
8-6, while the London Minors
got by Brampton by a 4-1
score, Leamington beat Oak-
vile
akvile 4-2, and Zurich blasted
Creemore 95.
In the evening contests,
London Minors beat
Pickering 6-1, while Seaforth
bested Lambeth 5-2, Forest
City beat Kitchener 5-3, and
Leamington beat Goderich 6-
1.
Last Sunday morning's
action "saw Listowel double
Seaforth by a 6-3 count,
Clinton blanked Lambeth 3-
0, Forest City downed
Guelph 6-3, and Owen Sound
beat Leamington by a 4-0
count.
In the afternoon, Bram-
pton swamped the Kitchener
Rebels 14-0, while Kitchener
beat Guelph 6-5 and Listowel
beat Lambeth by a 9.6 score.

have formed the Maitland
Valley Canoe Club and will
have their first meeting on
February 27, at the Vanastra
pool, the only body of water
