At the Legion
Biggest turnout. yet
By Steve Cooke
Men's euchre last week
had one of the biggest tur-
nouts yet, with 16 tables
playing. Bob Draper and
Clayton Ellis tied for high
score with 86, while Johri
Meade won the low spot with
a 55. We had a whole crew of
people tie for lone hands and
they will have to cut to
decide a winner this week.
Thosecutting the cards are
Bruce Clark, Harold Black,
Howie Grealis; Bill Harris,
Bill Jenkins, Abe Taylor and
Graham Yeats. Each of
them had four lone hands
and we will know the results
of the cut next week.
Thank you Brenda and
Brian Atkinson for looking
after darts while we were
away on holiday. Due to a
bad storm that week, only
six people showed up to play,
with George Yeats winning
most of the games, and Neil
Elliott taking the high score.
Last week was much im-
proved as far as turnout goes
and Joyce and John Scott
won the high couple.
Madelon and George Yeats
teamed up to turn in low
score, and Don Armstrong
took high man while
Rosemary Armstrong won
high lady.,
Apparently there is some
confusion as to Who is
organizing the mixed euchre
games. For those who don't
know, it's Marg Switzer and
Blanche' Deeves, so if you
have any questions, get in
touch with one of them. They
have been very disappointed
in the poor attendance for
the last couple of games, and
hope there will.be more par-
ticipation in the future. The
next nixed euchre party is
scheduled. for Januar) 30th
and everyone is hoping for a
good attendance.
Annie Sallows and Mar)
Arthur are still in hospital.
but the other two, thankfully,
have been released. Annie is
still quite uncomfortable,
and they are watching her
carefully, but Mary seems to
be coming along quite nice-
ly. Members of the Ladies'
Auxiliary can help outim-
mensely by pitching in and
helping out with the ban-
quets that have been
scheduled. As everyone
realizes, Annie was a real
driving force when it came
to organizing these events,
so let's not let her down
while she's laid up. Don't
forget, however, that the
banquet scheduled for Jan.
28th has been cancelled.
Our general meeting takes
place on Monday night, so
let's see all you ordinary
members out and involved.
It's only a couple of hours
every month, but it means a
lot to the workings of the
Legion.
