Nevertheless, the visit itself was successful in- cluding some cross country skiing and a day in Banff. However because of weather conditions Mrs_ Pemberton decided to re -schedule her Tethriatztia and leave earlier - than had been her original intention_ From then on one thing followed another. Instead of being able to travel direct to Toronto it was necessary to change at Sudbury. Instead of arriving early in the mor- ning - it was some ten hours later that the train finally pulled in. En route one misfortune followed another. The first delay was due to a broken rad, and when this had been remedied the water tanks froze. Then it became necessary to change engines because of a broken wheeL In view of these setbacks, Mrs_ Pemberton decided that it would be sensible to spend the night with another member of her family in Toronto before resuming her journey, and once again she was .greeted by fresh troubles as all the pipes in the house had frozen and a plumber was busily engaged in trying to remedy the multiplicity of resultant pro- blems - a warm welcome was out of the question_ But your ex -correspondent doesn't give up easily. Early next morning she was back at the railway station ready to catch the train to London. Compared to her ex- periences so far that part of the journey was quite reasonable. i The transportation of her cases across to the bus, station was not so easy, but fortunately a porter appeared to help - a service that was very much appreciated and a .demonstration that goodwill is not reserved for the festive season exclusively. The last stage of the journey was by bus, and finally Mrs. Pemberton and her luggage were deposited opposite Clan Gregor Square, in what appeared to be a deserted village enveloped in snow. Leaving her cases to their fate under the shelter of the boats, Mrs. Pemberton was just prepar- ing to trudge home through the snow. But - the age of chivalry is not yet past. At this point an OPP car appeared and lear- ning of her plight picked up Mrs. Pemberton and her lug- gage. "Where do you live?" ask- ed the policeman. "Howard Street," was the reply. Bad fire there the other ' night!" was the policeman's comment. But, the Councillor was home at last, safe and sound and her house was intact. Nak Rev. Bennett returns home The Rev. Wm. Bennett returned home on Thursday last following his stay in Westminster Hospital. He is feeling much better and would like to thank all those who sent greetings and good wishes. He would also like to express his thanks to the clergy and churchwardens for their assistance during his absence. The date of the vestry meeting has now been changed to January 29 and it is hoped that there will be a good attendance for the meeting and the potluck sup- per preceding it. Time of the meeting - 6:30 p.m. Trinity, Anglican Church Women held their annual general meeting at the home of Fern Baker on Thursday last with president Ev. Earl presiding.
