Veenstra's Vicegrips have 68 points, Scottie's Screwdrivers are next with 66 and John's Jacks are in last place with 64. Hilda Veenstra had the ladies' high single of 238 and the high triple of 601. Mary Buffinga bowled her way th the high average of 183. For the men, Walter Pepper had the high single of 284 and the high triple of 656. Angus Hummel hao the high average of 206. Tuesday Afternoon Ladies Nancy Roy was the top bowler of the week. She took the individual high single of 295, the high triple with 763 and the high average of 196. Rose's Roasted Nuts'ic the At Vanastra rink top team of the league with 94 points. Ramona's Pistachios are second with 92'2 and Castle's Chestnuts have 85. Beulah's Butternuts have 83'2 points and Bircham's Beechnuts and Bonie's Beer Nuts both have 82 points. Instead of the regular monthly meetings which are open to all women m the county, the group will be of- fering six evening sessions through the college beginn- ing on Monday, January 19. and running on alternate Mondays until March 30. Stress will be the topic of the first workshop and discussion will centre on what cuases stress, what ex- cessive stress does and what can be done to control or manage.It. _.:'I ,e -.:...F .b ry_-2_ -sessions will deal with guilt., the origins of the feeling, its op- presive nature and how it short. circuits independence. The class will also look at ways to cope with guilt. Competitive behavior between women has been scheduled as the February 16 workshop. It will study why women compete, rather than cooperate and will look at different types of ' com- petitive behavior. How to say what you mean and mean what_ you say in a non-aggressive way will be the , topic • of the March 2 workshop. In studying asser- tiveness, the group will look at ways to be confident in asserting yourself. On March 16, the course will deal with political in- volvement and how women can affect the political pro- cess and lobby effectively. Discussions will centre on how to gather information on issues and how to become politically aware. The final workshop will look at the physical aspects of mood changes and how food additives, vitamins and minerals affect the brain. The March 30 . class- will study the nature of the brain and the substances the brain cells release, resulting in moods, altered behavior and tolerance for stress. Specific illnesses, like schizophrenia , and hypoglycemia and how they tie into nutritional habits will be studied. The six workshops are of- fered to all Huron County women for a cost of $10. They will be held from 7 until 9:30 p.m Already over 75 women have shown interest in the Women Today group that was formed last fall and the organization hopes to reach out to more women through Conestoga College. Anyone interested in the Leadership for Women course may register at the Clinton campus in Vanastra or telephone 482-3458. In Goderich Twp. Group home plan okayed Accounts totalling $37,974.29 were ordered paid when Goderich Township Council met in regular session January 5. Betty Bedard was present at the council meeting to explain her proposal for a Group Home on part lot 18, concession 2. Council then passed a motion to approve the establishment of a Group Horne on this parcel of land as proposed by Ms. Bedard. Don Taylor was present at the ecu meeting to ex- plain plain five sheep claims totalling $1,099.54 and to present his affidavits regarding the same. Council ordered that he be paid. , Council also ordered that a grant of $100 be paid to the Clinton Fair in May and the same be made to the Bayfield Fair in August.
