uitting or not starting to smoke
and the week's theme is
"Join the Majority - Be a
Non -Smoker."
According to US. health
studies, non-smokers now
make up two-thirds of the
U.S. population, and up to 70
per cent of a group of non-
smokers suffer eye irrita-
tion; as well as headache,
cough and sore throat after
eiposure to a sustained dose
of someone else's smoke.
Evelyn Sett of the Ontario
Heart Foundation's Perth
County chapter adds that
studies have shown
respiratory .illnesses are
more common among -
children whose parents
smoke compared with those
who have non-smoking
parents. As . well, carbon
monoxide levels in poorly
ventilated smoke-filled
rooms have sometimes ex-
ceeded
aceeded levels considered
safe in industry.

The following hints of
keeping a humidifier were
submitted to as by Elwin
Merrill.
"Do yen have a portable
humidifier in your borne? If
you have, take it apart and
clean thoroughly, replace
wick with a new one. To each
pail of water you put into
your humidifier, add half a
cup (measured) of white
wine vinegar. The results
will surprise you.

This does not pertain to

softener. My humidifier is
over one year old and still no
lime deposits. Clean out

Camel" before Hawkeye called Riverbanks . bringing the
meeting to a close.
