New Year's guests with
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dupuis

the evening meal, an even-

until about 10:30 when the
lights went out on the 13-14

The Huron County Board.
of Education has supported a
motion from the township of
Hibbert seeking the in-
stallation of a traffic signal
on Highway 8 at the in-
tersection of Perth Road 10
in the village of Dublin.
The board, endorsed the
notion at .a regular monthly
meeting Monday at the
request of the police village
of Dublin and the Township
of Hibbert.
In a letter to the board,
township clerk Charles
Friend indicated that five
people have been killed at
the intersection in the last
few years. The latest fatality
occured on November 25,
1980 when James Melady
was killed as a result of an
automobile accident at the
intersection.
After each of the five
fatalities the township and
village councils have pur-
sued the prospect of the
installation of controlled
lights without success. The
letter claimed that eight
school buses cross the in-
tersection daily.
Trustee Frank Falconer
said the installation of traffic
• signals on Highway 8 was _
ridiculous and suggested the
board not concur with the
request.
"It is not a bad in-
tersection and is ridiculous
to request lights." he said.,
"The highway is the only lifik
to the 401 and no one is lined
up in Dublin."
Falconer introduced a
motion that the board not
concur with the township
request but it was defeated
and a subsequent motion to
support the resolution
passed.
In other business the board
passed a bylaw authorizing
the borrowing of up to $20
rnillion to'meet einenditirres
until revenue is received.
