Sunburnt City
Do you remember that horrible hot feeling of
bright red skin from last summer? Remember
how even the sheets hurt your arms and legs? Do
you want to have that same feeling again this
summer? NO WAY! But what can you do?
Some people get freckles, and some people
don't. Some people tan, and some people don't.
Everybody's skin is different, but almost every-
one burns. When summer trots along, people love
being outside. Remember how much that hot
scratchy sunburn hurt?? Do you want that feeling
again?
The easiest way to prevent a sunburn is to stay
inside. It is also the most boring way. Who wants
to stay inside on a beautiful day? Not you, that's
for sure. But, did you know that the sun's rays
are the most harmful between 10 and two? That
leaves lots of left over hours to play outside.
You don't want to stay inside?
The next easiest way to prevent a sunburn is to
cover yourself up. This can be a drag — some
summer days are so hot that even the lightest
shirt feels like a fur coat. Bathing suits and
shorts are by far the coolest things to wear, but
they also expose a lot of skin. What can you do?
There are sunscreens that work pretty well,
available in drug stores. "Paba" is perhaps the
best sunscreen ingredient found in tanning
lotions — look for it on labels.
Did you know you can get a sunburn underwa-
ter? Yes, you can! On top of that, wet skin
actually attracts the rays that burn. Clouds and
trees offer no protection either those sneaky rays
can find a way to your skin.
Take care this summer; cover up, wear a sun-
screen, and stay inside during the hot hours of the
day. Remember that hot, itchy feeling of a sun-
burn???? Ugh. Who needs it!
