Reporting on unfinished business the Clerk stated that a meeting had taken place with Dr. Walker and his solicitor on the subject of docking and no further pro- blems were anticipated. On the subject of bylaw en- iorcemeht council discussed means by which this might be achieved and agreed that provisions should be made following an investigation of the resources available to them and taking into account comparative expenditure in order to achieve this objec- tive. The Clerk outlined the banking arrangements re- quired in order to facilitate payments between tax col- lections. A capital loan is also envisaged to provide for the purchase of a tractor, truck and ice plant. However, no firm decisions were taken although negotia- tions in connection with the ice plant are in hand. The first report on the Canada Works program had been submitted and the village was thanked for par- ticipating in the scheme which not only provided employment, but was also a means of improving the village. New councillor The Clerk reported that an application had been receiv- ed from Mrs. Helen Owen, to fill the vacancy created by Councillor Huffman's resignation. A motion accep- ting he>t was carried. Permission to install a swim- ming pool had been submit- ted by Dr. Puley. Council had consulted with the Ausable Bayfield Con- servation Authority on this matter, and their recom- mendations and learned that the original site intended for the project would present problems. However, the alternative suggested met with the approval of Council. Two other items concerning the erection of garages re- quired amendment or amplification and were referred back. Vet clinic Council were asked to con- sider a request from the Goderich Veterinary Clinic who wish to run sessions in the village on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-6 p.m. over the period from June 21 until Labor Day. A fee of $15 per session was agreed with the provision that the users would be responsible for the hygienic r 'eansing of the premises following each clinic. Councillor Wilson reported a street lighting problem and it was agreed that the expen- diture on repair and replace- ment should be made. Road Superintendent Penhale advised council that a problem existed regarding drainage into the river which was having an adverse effect on the recently installed sheet piling. He was asked to investigate costs and possi- ble assistance which might be made available to remedy the situation, and report back to the next meeting. Holmesville holds anniversary By Blanche Deeves Sunday School Anniver- sary was held at the Holmesville United Church last Sunday in the lower level of the church. The Junior and Senior choirs took part in the service that was led by Allison Lobb. Sunday School Superin- tendent Mrs. Elaine Bechtel gave the Invocation. Denise Johnston led in prayer and Jackie Norman read' the Scripture. The Offering was received by Lisa Forbes and Steven Preszcator. The Offertory prayer was given by Heather Harris. Mrs. Margaret Robinson guest speaker showed her slides of The Java Hill people of Indonesia and gave a commentary of her four and one-half months of teaching English. She also had a display of souvenirs. Shannon Preszcator thanked her and presented her with a gift. Tracy Norman gave the Benediction. Note June 19 - An Outdoor Service and pot luck lunch will be held at Camp Menesetung. The Enterprising Seniors met in the Community centre in HolmesvtLe last Thursday evening with Everett Mcllwain in charge of the meeting. Mrs. Jean Lobb pla'ed the piano for the opening exercises. A lively auction was held with Jack Smith and Ed Deeves as the auctioneers. Many farmers in the Holmesville area are happy for the warm weather to get their crops in. Hullett car crash The Goderich OPP reported one accident in the Clinton area last week, tf at left an area youth with minor injuries. On June 9, Gregory Finch, 17, of RR 1 Clinton was travelling along sideroad 20- 21 in Hullett Townshin when the accident occurred. Finch's car was north bound when it left the road and entered the ditch, striking an embankment and rolling over, Damage to the Finch vehicle is estimated at $1,500. By Blanche Deevea Last Sunday Morning Prayer was held in Si James' Anglican church in Middleton with Rev. Gordon Reynolds in charge. The Banns of Marriage were read between Grant Nicholas Hoflinger of Waterloo and Mamie Ellen Middleton of Kitchener. James Storey and Jim Middleton received the of- fering. The Board of Management of St. James' met at the home of Edward and Blanche Deeves. Rev. Reynolds opened in prayer. Estelle Wise read the minutes of the previous meeting and were approved as read. A discns.5ion was held on the Bennett Memorial and Roy Wise gave a report on the Memorial Plaque to be put in the church to be dedicated later. The Aim, report given and Rector thanked all for contributing. Rector read two letters from A.D. Choy az. Trinity Church in Bayfield offered a Candle lighter and extinguisher which was accepted with thanks. Ed Deeves will put up Welcome signs for the Anglican churches in the area. The Rector closed in prayer. ACW meet The ACW of St. James' held their June meeting at the home of Estelle Wise. Blanche Deeves leader in charge assisted by Lois Wise opened the meeting, and thanked Estelle for the use of her home. Rev. Reynolds opened the meeting with a prayer for Joe Storey. The Scripture reading was given by Blanche and Lois Wise read the Meditation. Vera Miller read the minutes of the last two meetings and read the correspondence and a thank you from Mrs. Marj. Vere. Delores Dutot reported two bales had been sent and she read two letters from the Rector and his wife. A thank you was read from Town and Country Homemakers. The Cook Books will be ready for the Annual Bake Sale on July 2. Barbara gave a report on the Deanery meeting. A box will be placed at the back of the church for donations to Monica t-Toi se; such as - tooth paste, soap and shampoo. All adults are invited to attend a program "Violence Behind Closed Doors" sponsored by Huron County Family Crisis Centre and the Bayfield Anglican and United Churches. Ray and Estelle Wise spent the weekend in Brampton with their uaughter Pat and Bob Hodgins and little Erin. Decoration service held at Baird's c:y Isabel Scott Sunny weather greeted a good crowd for the decora- tion sex -vice at Baird's cemetery under the auspices of the Brucefield IOOF and Varna L.O.L. on Sunday afternoon. Mr. D. Moffat led the service and Rev. W. Brown of Varna gave the worship. Mrs. J.B. Mustard is con- fined to University hospital of London as a result of a fall at her home. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dalrymple are in Nottawa at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rob Marshall and family. Rob is in Meaford hospital as the result of a car accident last week. Mr. Wesley, Ham and daughter Martha of Hunt- sville, spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. A. Ham. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lobb on the birth of a son. Curtis MacKay, son of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Wilson, was baptized by Rev. J. Bechtel of Wesley Willis Church in Clinton at the Sunday morn- ing service. The communion service was also held. Mr. J.K. Cornish of the Bluewater Nursing Home spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brock and attend- ed the decoration service at Baird's cemetery. Kippen youth killed William W Kinsman, 18, of R.R. 2 Kippen was killed on June 5 when the car he was driving left Perth County Road 17 and struck a bridge about five kilometers west of St. Pauls. Provincial police said Kinsman's car drove off on the shoulder, struck one wall of the bridge, rebounded against the other wall and fell four meters into the river below. When the young man failed to report for work Sunday morning on a St. Pauls area dairy farm, his parents, Bob and Frances Kinsman, were notified. They set out to retrace their son's route. By the time they reached the accident scene, the police were already there. The tragedy cast a pall of gloom over Hensall's Spring Fair. Bob Kinsman is a past president, Bill's brother John is the current president, and Frances is president of the fair's new ladies' division. Bill won the red ribbon for his champion calf at the 1982 Hensall Spring Fair. He was an active and valued 4-H member. Bill was a first year student in the agricultural business management course at Centralia College.
