Summer flowers filled the
Knox United Church,
Belgrave, While the music
floated on the morning air to
welcome a capacity con-
gregation to the annual Sun-
day School Anniversary and
barbecue on Sunday, June
12. Many came a long
distance to worship with
parents and friends.
The centre pews were
reserved for the .leaOhers
and the primacy pupils.
Each Sunday School atten-
dant wore a pansy corsage.
The junior choir of approx-
" imaately 20 voices entered the
sanctuary to the proces-
sional by n, accompanied
by the organist, Mrs. George
Procter and pianist Mrs.
Howard Morton. Scripture
readings were given by
Carol Hopper and Heather
Marton.
Clifford Coultes presented
the attendance awards for
Sunday School pupils:

Mr. Coultes welcomed all
those present and expressed
his thanks to all who helped
with the service and
barbecue_ The offering was
received by Alison Coultes,
Donna Higgins, Sheila
Anderson and Melanie Scott.
Mrs. William Coultes in-
troduced the guest speaker,
the Rev. Murray Barnet who
is Director of the Pearce -
Williams Training Centre, at
Dutton..
Mr. Robert Grasby thank-
ed Rev. Barnet for his in-
spiring message. Following
the service a chicken
barbecue was enjoyed.
ACW Meet
The ACW meeting was
held at the home of Mrs.
Jack King in Wingham. The
president Mrs. Beth Procter
led in prayer. The scripture
was read by Mrs. Alex
Nethery.

Kindergartens
Visit
On June 7, the Grade 8
girls went to their weekly
ride to Seaforth Public
School for Home-Ec. At 12:40
they got on the bus with the
kindergarten 1 class. At
Home-Ec they learned how
to make grilled cheese and
how to cleanthe kitchen pro-
perly for games and fitness
they finger. pa' , ' had
races, played -tag and red
rover. Their trienit was
grilled cheese, or open face
sandwiches, pink -lemonade.
After lunch they coloured

on Thursday, July 14 at 7
p.m. with a pot luck supper.
Sports will be organized for
the small children and a ball
game for older participants.
All Summerhill Community
residents are welcome.
The raffle prize was won
by Donna Gibbings. Marg
Wright won the "guess the
contents" package brought
by Ali Westerhout. Ida
Wright's hidden package
was wcm by ' .Marion
Colclough who gave two
humorous readings.
The next meeting will be
held on July 13 at 8:30 at the
home of Sandra Westerhout.
Lunch and program com-
mittee include Lorna Ellis,
Arny Gerrits . and Donna
Gibbings.

ton Christian, Seaforth
Public, Blyth Public and
Huron Centennial. Hullett
put forth a great effort but
finished in 3rd place overall.
Hullett also had a personal
winner, Susan Govenlock
finished first in the In-
termediate division.

Goderich Trip
On June 7 the Grade l's
went on a field trip to
Goderich. While in Goderich
the grade l's visited the air-
port, fire station, Zehrs and
the veterinary clinic. At the
airport the students viewed a
film. While at Zehrs the
students were given donuts
e bake shop. At. the fire
tToh4lie. itdde>ilts Were
shown a film. and they view-
ed the fire engines. At the
veterinary clinic the
students were taught about
the care of animals.

Miss Lillian Potter con-
ducted the mission study on
the Philippines, telling of the
work of Sister Augustina, a
nurse in the Philippine In-
dependent Church. A Cana-
dian Anglican priest, Alan
Thwaits and his wife are ser-
ving there as well, concen-
trating on the work of conti-
nuing education for the
clergy. For the great majori-
ty of the 40 million people in
the Philippines arrest,
detention and injustice is
common. Many foreign own-
ed concerns permitted by the
Marcos government under-
mine the life and livelihood
of the Filipino people.
The program prepared by
Mrs. Clare Van Camp was a
story about firefliesa poem.
Miss Mary Isabel Nethery
acted as auctioneer for a
bake sale.

The Evening Unit of the
UCW met on June 7 at the
home of Mrs. George Michie_
Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler
opened the meeting with the
business. The minutes were
read and adopted. Mrs. John
McIntosh read a letter from
her sister-in-law telling of
her work in Haiti.
Mrs. Ross Anderson an-
nounced the Special Event
Day to be held at Camp
Menesetung June 16 for all
UCW members starting at
9:30 a.m. Rev. Wilena Brown
will be the guest speaker and
her topic will be the new
study book for the fall.
Mrs. John McIntosh and
Mrs. Cliff Logan, who were
delegates to the Westminster
Weekend, led a combined
workshop service and pro-
gram on the theme "The
Great I Am."
The September meeting
will be held at the home of
Mrs. Norman Cook.

Clinton Scouts earned the Blnewater Region Chief Scout's
Awards at a special presentation ceremony in Mitchell on
June 4. Perth MPP Hugh Edighoffer presented cer-
tificates to Clinton 1st Scout leader Wayne Wigelswortb
and Scouters Michael Hallan, Paul Lippincott and Bryan
Thomas. Thirty-seven Scout groups earned awards.
