L cal K of (a member honored at convention At the Annual Convention of the Knights of Columbus, Ontario Jurisdiction, District Deputy Seamus Doherty was elected as one of the eight members of the Knights of Columbus as a delegate to the Supreme Convention which takes place at Columbus Ohio the first week of August. Brother Seamus was selected one out of over 250.000 Ontario members of the Knights off Columbus. Since joining the Knights of Columbus Brother Seamus has amassed a number of attributes and one cannot be too surprised at his selection, even though all members in good standing are eligible to become one of the chosen eight Knights. Seamus' appointment marks the first time in 75 years that a district Brother has earned the positions. Seamus and his wife Betty, have three children, Una 18, Liam 14, and David, 9 years. His family supports him with ad- miration for his dedication and total in- volvement to the principles of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Church. Since joining the Knights in 1975, he has been Warden, Deputy Grand Knight and Grand Knight of the Seaforth Council. He was also, while Grand Knight, in- strumental in the formation of the Squires Circle in the Seaforth Council area. He, along with a few other members of the Knights who belonged to the St. Joseph -St. Michael Parish, were instrumental in the formation of the St. Joseph's Council 7645 encompassing the Blyth, Clinton, Bayfield area, and was the Charter Grand Knight of St. Joseph's Council. He -was also involved in the formation of the Father Reid-T.nwic Snilires Circle en- compassing the Blyth, Clinton, Bayfield area. He was also the area chairman for the Columbian Squires. He has been the Parish Round Table Chairman since its in- ception in 1981. He was appointed Centen- nial Chairman for the Council which was in 1 x;12. For the past two years, he bas been the District Deputy and has been asked to serve an additional year in that position. In the space of seven years he has dedicated his energy to the Knights and the causes for which they were originally formed. As District Deputy, he was instrumental in formation of Mary -Joseph Council in Hesson-Listowel, an extremely active council. Brother Seamus is also a member of Monsignor D.J. Egan 4th Degree Assembly. Brother Seamus advocates the forma- tion of Squirettes and Daughters of Isabella, thereby completing the family participation in the basic principles, the church and community. He looks forward to this accomplishment with anticipation. The Supreme Convention takes place at Columbus, Ohio the first week of August and will bring together dedicated Knights, like Seamus, from every state in the U.S.A., every province of Canada, and area representatives from Mexico and the Philippines. To Brother Knight Seamus and his fami- ly, the local Knights send their congratula- tions and best wishes, especially much success in future endeavours he may choose to undertake for the benefit of the Order, the Church and the Country. First renewal time for licence stickers TORONTO–It's riot February but it is licence sticker renewal time again for those vehicle owners whose birthday is in June. The Ontario Ministry of Transportation and Communications reminds vehicle owners that those with birthdays between June 1 and December 31, must renew their stickers for a second time in 1983 to bring them into the yearly renewal cycle. Reminders of renewal date have been mailed to vehicle owners on record; however, it is anticipated some may be missed. While the ministry has been working around the clock to clear up a backlog of information that requited from the in- troduction of a new system and computers, it is possible that some vehicle owners with early June renewal dates are not yet on the computer file and would not be mailed the reminder notice. As well, there are always a certain number of people who move just prior to their renewal date and their reminders may not reach them in time. Therefore, all vehicle owners are advis- ed that, whether or not they receive their reminders to renew, they must have their new stickers on their vehicles on or before their birthday in 1983. Cost of renewal stickers for all vehicles with passenger car plates is $48 per year. AU$iNESS AINIb PROFESSIONAL DIRECTQRY SECURITY Protect your investments with a custom designed security system from LAWRENCE SECURITY SYSTEMS Residential and Com- mercial systems. 24 hour monitoring. —AUBURN - 526 -7505 452-70424 ELECTRIC 9‘1/6 C.
