(Rod Hilts photo) Brucefield backs charity t•y Isabel Scott Brucefield volunteer firemen held a car wash and pancake breakfast Satur- day, May 28 in aid of Muscular Dystrophy which was well attended. The firemen thank all who at- tended and helped. The cake donated by The Trading Post was won by Mac Wilson. Stanley unit members met on May 25 at the home of Mrs. Pearl Eyre. She con- ducted the worship on our concern for others, assisted by Ruby Triebner. The leaders led in a quiz on church conventions and a lively discussion followed. It was decided to visit Huron - view for the next meeting on June 22. Mr. and Mrs. William Bur- dge of Owen Sound spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. Burdge and family. Mr. and Mrs. Fred McGregor of Woodstock spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Gregor McGregor. Mr. and Mrs. George Clif- ton of London visited on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Stirling and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Hender- son have returned from an enjoyable trip to Bermuda. Hensall Centennial Committee The Centennial committee rnet at the Hensall United Church on May 24. Cecil Pep- per was appointed to repre- sent council on the Centen- nial Committee. Council has given its financial backing if needed. The Chairman announced that Mrs. Betty Simmons will be in charge of the Crafts Booth and Bob Cameron will arrange an an- tique Flea Market and also displays on Main Street. Wayne Scotchmer was named the winner at the Logo Contest held at the Public School. You will be seeing this Logo displayed in many different ways in the coming year. Centennial signs have been placed on the old Fire Truck which will appear in many area parades. Carmel Church News Rev. Grant McDonald B.U. of St. Andrew's Church in Kitchener was guest nuntster at the anniversary of Carmel Presbyterian Church un Sunday. He was welcomed and assisted by Rev. Kenneth Knight. A large number of members and visitors attended the ser- vice. Mrs. Duruth, Taylor presided at the organ and the quartette from Centralia in- cluding Douglas Gill, Sam Skinner, Bob Heywood and Bob Blair sang accompanied by Mrs. Gill at the uiano. A luncheon was enjoyed afterwards, served by the choir members. A WMS and Ladies' Aid meeting will be held, on June 6 at 8 p.m. in the Chu -ch. The WMS Birthday. meeting will be held in the Church on lune 13. Miss Carol Erb of wt ishan Bland Mission ill s eak and show the new film "No Longer A Beggar" portraying her work of the mission in China. On June 12, Rev. C.D. Henderson of Ex- eter will be the minister and communion will be celebrated on June 19. Legion News In April, several Hensall Legion comrades went to the District C Convention, held in Guelph. At this convention President Comrade Irvin Ferris was presented with the Early Bird Plaque. This plaque is now hanging in the Legion Hall.
