The annual meeting of the
Huron County Historical
Society was held in the Com-
munity Hall in Wroxeter
May a.. Joe Hogan, presi-
dent, chaired the meeting
and Doris Batkin, secretary -
treasurer, read the minutes
of the April meeting held in
Blyth and also the financial
report for the year.
Helen Anderson, member-
ship convener, reported 199
members in 1982 and the
group lost two faithful
members by death.
The membership fee for
1983 will be $4.00 for single
and family and a bus trip for
last of June was discussed
and left in the hands of David
Lorrie Mann, the 18 -year-old daughter of Bob
and Pat Mann of Clinton is an accomplished
musician. She hopes to study music in
university after she completes Grade 13
studies at CHSS. Lorrie has Grade 9 in piano
and gives lessons. She is a member of the
CHSS choir and plays the piano for the
Ontario Street United Church Junior Choir.
Lorrie works at Becker's and will be helping
at Martin's Market this summer. In the queen
contest she is sponsored by the Clinton Kin-
smen.
Eighteen -year-old Una Doherty of Clinton has
a number of special interests. The daughter of
Seamus and Betty Doherty works at
Huronview and has taught gymnastics to
local youngsters for three years. She enjoys
swimming, playing the flute and is involved in
a number of clubs and the Yearbook Com-
mittee at CHSS. She was also a cheerleader
for two years. Una's sponsors are the Clinton
Optimists.
Carol Straughan hopes to become a Mental
Retardation Counsellor through Fanshawe
College. The 17 -year-old daughter of Mrs.
Rene Straughan of Clinton will complete
Grade 12 at CRSS this year. Carol is being
sponsored by her employer Pepo's Pizza. She
has also worked as a summer playground
leader in Clinton and enjoys art, swimming
and bike riding. She helps as a prefect at
CRSS and works as a volunteer at the
Bluewater Centre.

ing was Blake Evans, an of-
ficer with Ministry of
Natural Resources at
Wingham, who gave a most
interesting talk on Game and
Fishery Laws as far back as
1756.
King Henry VIII passed
very strict game laws in
England and many of these
carried to Canada in its ear-
ly years as a colony. He also
showed a film, Ministry of
Natural Resources People,
depicting the work carried
on by them throughout
Canada. Evans was thanked
by David McClure and Annie
Reed thanked the Wroxeter

Sharon East drums with the Clinton Legion
Pipe Band and the Ontario Massed Legion
Pipes and Drums. The 17 -year-old daughter of
Murray and Gladys East of Clinton is
president of the CHSS Music Club, a member
of the school choir, girls' chorus, flutist in the
CHSS band and choir member at Ontario
Street United Church. Sharon is a Guider with
Clinton Girl Guides and will be working at the
Girl Guide Camp Keewaydin this summer.
She hopes to study secretarial arts at Lam-
bton College. Sharon's sponsors at the Clinton
Legion.

Valerie Lewis will be completing Grade 12 at
CRSS this year and will return for Grade 13
studies before beginning her post -secondary
education 'in hopes of becoming a Registered
Nurse. The 17 -year-old daughter of Velma
Lewis of Clinton is a CHSS cheerleader, an
avid roller skater and sports enthusiast. She
also worked with Clinton's Rest and
Relaxation Program in 1982. Valerie is being
sponsored by Clinton Lions Club.
The Clinton Rebekahs are sponsoring Margie
Wise, 17. The daughter of Harold and Kay
Wise of Clinton is best known for her con-
tibutions to the Clinton Hospital Candy
Stripper Program, volunteering more than
500 hours. She's also a Junior Farmer, a
Brownie Leader, Wesley Willis United Church
and CHSS choir member and CHSS band
member. Margie works at the Huron Centre
and hopes to study psychology after com-
pleting high school.

This year's CHSS formai queen was the 18 -
year -old daughter of Richard and Glenyce
Snell of Blyth. Jayne Snell is in Grade 13 and
hopes to study fashion merchandising In
university. When she's not working at The Old
Mill in Blyth, Jayne Is studying gymnastics,
Grade 9 piano and Grade 10 ballet. Jayne Is
being sponsored in the queen contest by
CFISS.
Suanne Smith, a Grade 12 student at CRSS is
actively involved in sports. Sammie plays
baseball and CHSS volleyball. She loves
swimming and has studied Dancefit for two
years. Suanne helped with Clinton's
playground program for two years and
presently does volunteer work at the
Bluewater Celitre. She'll be finishing high
school this year and hopes to work before
beginning college studies. The 18 -year-old
daughter of Wayne and Mary Smith of Clinton
is being sponsored by Mac's Milk.
Laurie Armstrong, 17,is being sponsored by
her club, the Clinton and District Junior
Farmers. A Grade 12 student at CHSS, she is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Armstrong
of Londesboro. She will be leaving the family
farm in the fall to study irdressing at the
Marvel School in London. This summer she is
working at Harbour Lights In Hayfield.
