The Bluewater Canadian
Council of the Blind met for a
club dinner on May 17.
The basement of Wesley -
Willis Church in Clinton was
filled with an unusually
large number of council
members, friends and
families. A roast beef dinner
was prepared and served by
the ladies of the church.
Following the meal a thine
of song was conducted by
Mrs. Madeleine Edward of
Goderich.
Mr. Ron Smith of Burl-
ington was thn «,neat Rneaker
assisted by his wife. Having
totally lost his v Psion some
years ago he and his wtfe
became involved with the
Christian Blind Missions
International". This
Organization concerns itself
with the blind and blind -deaf
of the Third World countries.
During Dun's presentation
his sighted wife Barbara
showed a film concerning
the work of this great
Organization. Don and
Barb's efforts were very ap-
preciatively received.

spent Wednesday with their
aunt Mrs. Alice Ham.
Mrs. Glenn Swan is a pa-
tient in University Hospital,
London, having undergone
surgery.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Scott
and son of Willowdale spent
the Victoria Day weekend
with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Ken Scott.
Mrs. Beatrice Dalrymple,
Mrs. Grace McBride and
Mrs. Doreen Baird spent a
couple of days last week with
Mr. and Mrs. Grant Love at
Caro, Michigan.
Mrs. Sharon Pine and
family of Brantford spent
the weekend with Mrs.
Grace McBride.
Visiting with Mr. and Mrs.
David Triebner last week
were Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Aichen and Mr. and Mrs.
David Diehl. Also their
granddaughters, Shelly and
Sharon Triebner,
Woodstock, spent the
weekend with them.
Miss Margaret Aikenhead
visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Mac Wilson on the weekend.
Brucefield-Kippen Church
service for the youth an-
niversary will be at
Brucefield at 11 a.m. on May
29.
St. Paul's church
member dies
Edna Gladys Draper
Funeral services were
held at the Ball and Falcone/-
Funeral
alconekFuneral Home in Clinton on
May 19 for Edna Gladys
Draper. The Huronview
resident died on May 17 at
the age of 92.
Born in Clinton on May 28,
1890, Mrs. Draper was the
daughter of Edward and
Ellen Herman.
She lived in Clinton all her
life and married the late
Caryl Wilton Draper in 1914.
Mrs. Draper was a well
known community worker.
She was a member of the St.
Paul's Anglican Church,
taught Sunday School, sang
in the choir and worked with
the Anglican Church
Women. She was also a
member of the Order of
Eastern Star.
She also raised a family of
11,ree, Donald Murray,
Robert Gerald and Lois
Isobel Hathaway. She was
predeceased by one on,
William Herman.
Mrs. Draper is also sur-
vived by nine grandchildren,
predeceased by one gran-
dchild and survived by five
great grandchildren.
Rev. Gordon Simmons
officiated at the May 19
funeral services and in-
terment followed in the
Clinton Cemetery. The
pallbearers were Harold
Fremlin, Paul Draper and
Gordon ; german, all of
Clinton, as well as George,
Caryl and Norman
Hathaway, all of Toronto.

Events like the upcoming Huronview Auxiliary ir,lossom Tea have helped to purchase
such items as the residents' directory at Huronview. Huronview services director Mary
Gibbings, and Auxiliary president Evaleaa Webster of •:>lyth looked at the board and
made plans for the upcoming Blossom Tea and xazaar on June 1. The annual event is
sponsored by the Auxiliary and women from across the county are invited to join in the

Veteran dies in crash
Lawrence Armand (Buck)
Lassaline of Goderich
Township died Monday, May
16 as the result of a car ac-
cident in Goderich Town-
ship.
He was born in St.
Boniface, Manitoba to Denis
and Medora (Janisse)
Lassaline.
He worked as a fruit
farmer and was the owner of
Lassaline Orchards in
Goderich Township.
During World War II, he
served in the Merchant
Marines.
He was a member of the
Fourth Degree Knights of
Columbus and St. Peter's
Roman Catholic Church in
Goderich.
He was predeceased by I is
wife, the former Margaret
Webster on J y 3, 1982.
He is survived by three
daughters, Clarissa of
Sudbury, Mrs. Rick (Isobel)

The Tuckersmith UCW
Unit 1 met on May 17.
Mrs. Hazel McCartney ex-
pressed how nice it was to
see not only the Unit 1
members but especially the
visitors. Mrs. Beatrice Stoll
read the minutes and 19
answered the roll call with
advice on visiting the sick.
Members signed a get well
card for Mrs. Vina Berry
who is ill.
It was announced Visitors
Day will be Wednesday,
June 8 at 2 p.m. The
strawberry supper is June
15. The next Unit 1 meeting
is to be held Thursday, ,June
9 at 8 p.m. Project for June
to be a Donation.
A Plant Sale was held with
active bids accepted by Mrs.
Grace Chapman and Mrs.
Edna Paterson.

Royal Canadian Legion
Branch 109 and the Ladies'

service at the funeral home
Thursday evening, May 19.
Prayers were also said by
the Knights of -Columbus at
the funeral home Thursday
evening.
Interment was in St.
Peter's Cemetery.

The Huronview

special service was held. The
guest speaker was Reverend
David McKnight of
Egmondville. Special music
was provided by the male
choir of Blyth with Mrs.
Margaret Kai presiding at
the piano.
in the evening Dick
Roorda conducted a hymn
sing in the chapel.
Monday night the regular
music session was held with
Bruce Cookson.
Tuesday evening part of
the Holland Tradition was
brought to Huronview. The
Kiompen Feest Festival
Singers presented a splendid
program of Dutch songs, led
by Dick Roorda. They were
accompanied by Ron
Greidanus at the piano and
George Schoemaker on the
horn and John Greidanus
playing the accordion.
John, in company with
Hugh Lobb playing the
violin, presented a medley of
Canadian selections.
Included on the program
also, was a group of young

dancers. The Itiountry Kids:
Stephanie Bush, Shan Lobb,
Erin Lobb, Kelly Bosman
and Nancy Lobb did an
excellent step -dancing
routine as well as the Saucy
Sailors Debbie Draper,
Scott Jewitt, Susan Jewitt
and Stacey Reid. A solo step -
dance was well performed
by Sherri Preszcator.
These young people
literally danced their way
into the hearts of everyone.
Elsie enderson thanked all
the performers for corning
out to entertain us with such
a fine program.
Wednesday afternoon, in
the activity room was the
setting for the May birthday
party. This event was con-
vened by the Women's
Institute of Londesboro. The
president, Mrs. Margaret
Taylor welcomed everyone
and opened the program.
Mr. Colin Swan led a
singsong with Mrs. Edwin
Wood presiding at the piano.
Two laches formerly from
the Londesboro area, and
now living at Huronview,
shared their talents with us.

Golden Radar Senior
Citizens Club met at Huron -
view.
Secretary Minlue Rumball
read the minutes of the last
meeting and the report on
May 4 Euchre. The prize
winners were: high pink
cards, Beatrice Welsh; low,
Cecealia Edgar; green card,
Mary Grigg; low, Jessie
Jones; most lone hands,
Minlue Rumball.
Roll call showed I present
answering by- naming the
school where they attended
and what it's used for now.
Carnations and cards were
sent to O. Watkins, V. Gibb-
ings, A. Wright, H. Parker
and B. Welsh. Thank you
notes were read from Jean
Johns, Hazel Parker, Vera
Gibbings and Rita thanked

Citizens.
Shuffleboard is finished
for this season. Irene Glazier
and Muriel Grigg were in
charge of the program.
Some records were played
by Muriel of Eastern music.
Euchre was played and win-
ners were: high, Cecealia
Edgar and Ed Godkin; low,
Edna Stuart and Minlue
Rumball.

The Women's Auxiliary of
Huronview will be having a
spring tea and bazaar on
Wednesday, June 1 from 2 to
3:30 p.m. in the new
auditorium. In the past there
have always been tables
displaying interesting and
useful items. This spring will
be no exception, as there will
be a variety of new and
practical ideas.
Many of the residents have
been busy knitting,
crocheting, and will offer a
wide assortment of articles.
Do come, have a visit with
friends and enjoy a cup of tea
and don't forget to jot down
