Fame an By Janet Tench What is it that everyone hopes for, but only a select few attain? - Fame and it has taken CHSS by the hand to lead her to the starry heaven of notoriety. It has come in three forms: 011e dramatic, one athletic and one in the forma of a famous s..ids personality. The dramatic form, as most will have guessed, is the success achieved with the play "June Groom", put on by the CHSS Urania Society. "June Groom" is a play written by Rick Abbot, about a young man who pledged to his rich uncle, "no sex until 30, so that he would get a cheque for a sizable fort une. Thirty arrived, and, due to pressure from the lovely Dinah, our hero Jordan, gave in to a June wedding. However, Jordan would not be 30 until July 1st. He felt he would be safe, because he expected the cheque from his uncle to be sent in the mail. It wasn't ... his uncle came in person, leaving Jordan in a excelle ce f spot trying to explain all the feninnine articles m his apartment, not to mention Dinah. The cast, Anne Lavis, John Lawson, Randy Lobb, Kathy MacDonald, Tim Craig, Karen Cook, Catherine Battye, Laureen Craig, and Rhonda Lobb did a com- mendable job. The play was hilariously funny, and it niust have taken great concentration to perforin with a straight face. The talent put into the production was evident from the beginning of the show. A song to be performed with the play was written and played by Paul Hartman, Dave Lobb, and Wesley Delve. I Paul and Dave wrote the music for Natalie Needs a Nightie, last year's play. The attendance for the play was best on Saturday, but good on Thursday and Friday. Financially, "June (;room" was more suc- cessful than "Natalie Needs a Nightie". The Drama Society thanks all those who attended the play. Feel bad because you massed out on the fame- gettiog drama production'' There's hope yet if you know Scott Millar, Kevin Lee, Byron Boyes, Steve Corbett, Jackie Nornkan or Cheryl Bromley. These young athletes have achieved fame, and they ... might share it with you. What did THEY do'' Well, at the Huron Perth Track and Field meet held on Tuesday and Wednesday in Goderich, r rama and athletic st Scott placed first m shot put, second in discus, and third in javelin. 'Riese six athletes have qualified to go to the WDA competition, to be held this week ur Pinson burg For those of you who would lake to become Track and Field groupies, they are Iden- tifiable by the peeling skin on their faces; the after- effect of sunburn acquired at the meet.
