Myth Ing has new owners
By Rod Hilts
On May 2, new owners took
over the Blyth Inn. Peter and
Carol Irwin, formerly of
Sudbury, say their first plans
are to make some
renovations.
The first plans the Irwins
have is to remodel the hotel's
dining room. They hope to
have the work completed for
the summer season.
The Irwins are no
strangers to the area. The
couple lived in Clinton from
1964-67, when Peter worked
for the Bank of Montreal. In
1967 Peter was transferred to
Sudbury by the bank. Carol
worked as an office manager
an Sudbury.
Peter said that he and his
wife have always wanted to
go into the food services
industry, but not necessarily
the hotel business.
"We started looking for a
place last August. We
checked out about five or six
locations in the area but we
really didn't like any of
them," said Peter.
Carol says they found that
the Blyth Inn was for sale by
chance.
"I saw the for 2d in the
classified section of the
Toronto Star. Usually the
classified section is the first
to go in the garbage, but this
time 1 decided to read it,"
Carol said.
They looked at the hotel
last November for the first
time but didn't really
seriously consider buying

"Out of all the hotels we
looked at we felt Blyth had
the best potential," the
couple said.
The couple plans to have
sons James, 23, Robert, 19,
and daughter Elizabeth, 21,
working at the hotel for the
summer.
Peter and Carol both feel
that the friendly atmosphere
in Blyth has helped them
adapt to their new home.
"The Blyth businessmen
have been really good to us.
They've given us a good
reception."

splitting the House League
team into age groups.
Londesboro wants to have
a nixed house league of
mixed age groups all mixed
in together and Blyth feels
that it is not fair to the older
kids and they want the house
league split up into different
age groups_ It was decided to
wiat and see what was
brought up at the next
meeting.
Because the Slow Pitch
wanted some more time for
the ball diamonds, the
following changes were
made The 9-10 year-old
House League was moved to
the Radford Diamond on
Monday nights at 7:00 p.m.
and the 6 - 8 year-old House
League was moved to 6:30 -
7:30 p.m. on Thursday night
with the Slow Pitch getting
the diamond at 8 p.m. The T.
Ball was moved to the school
diamond on Monday night
from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The
Slow Pitch to get the Old Ball

Dave Medd is to order
shirts for the Squirt Girls
from Wroxeter at $4.50 each
with the town's name on it.
A fee of $8 was set for the
use of the ball diamonds for
an early game. Practices
were set free of charge
unless the teams have a
game or want to use the good
bases or want the lights or
the diamond lined, then they
will be charged the regular
price. Anv team wanting to
book the diamonds is to
notify Jess Sippel.
The Midget Girls have not
paid for their registration
and asked to please pay
before they start playing
their games.
11 was decided to ask the
parents who have boys
playing in the Blyth Tour-
naments to make some
squares or cup cakes to feed
the teams on the days of the
tournament.
