Sunday morning worship
was held m the Huronview
chapel with Rev. Norman
Pick to charge. A duet was
wing by Elsie Henderson and
Margaret McQueen. An an-
them was suing by the choir-.
Flowers were placed in the
chapel by Sarah Carter and
Rhoda McKercher.
Monday afternoon Mane
Flynn and the Huron Strings
provided old time music.
They played many favorites
old and new for the pleasure
of the residents.
In the evening there was
nAusic appreciation with
Bruce Cookson. He also
brought along a number of
letters from the Grade 4
students to be distributed to
the residents. The idea of
this is for a resident and stu-
dent to correspond with one
another and establish a pen
pal relationship. It is a great
idea and should be a lot of
fun.
Elsie Henderson played
piano music for Special Care
residents when they met in
the activity room Tuesday
afternoon for games and ex-
ercises.
Caravan Clothes from
London was here Wednes-
day. Racks of garments for
men and women were on
display. It was a great time
for residents and staff to
stock up for spring, or just
add to their present war-
drobe. Ed Stiles from
Goderich was here on
Thursday and played selec-
tions old and new on the
chapel organ for the listen-
ing pleasure of the residents.
Huronview would like to
sincerely thank the legions,
Wingham Branch 180, Clin-
ton Branch 140 and Goderich
Branch 109 for their
generous donations to
Huronview toward the pur-
chase of a new van.
Residents extend a warm
welcome to Mr. Willi=am
Henry Nurse of Goderich,
who has come to reside at
iron view.
To the families of the late
Mrs. Lily Pilkeington and
Mrs. Gladys Wallis, Huron -
view expresses their sincere
sympathy. These two ladies
were residents of Huronview
and died last week.
Financial
assistance
It's tune once again to
invite interested young
people to apply for the Ruby
Haddy Memorial Award.
The financial assistance
scholarship is awarded
annually to a Clinton district
resident who wishes to
graduate from a recognized
school of training in the
health field. It is sponsored
by the Auxiliary to the
Clinton Public Hospital.
The Auxiliary has on hand
updated brochures and
films, listing new health
careers for male and female
students for which this
award will be given.
Interested applicants are
asked to contact the
guidance services at Central
Huron Secondary School at
482-3471, or Auxiliary first
vice president Mrs. Don
( Joyce) Chilton at 565-2165
for information and ap-
plication forms. These must
be filled in and returned to
the school or to Mrs. Chilton
by the last day of classes in
June.
Mrs. Chilton noted that
Candy Stripers at the Clinton
Hospital will be given
preference in the final award
selection.

Goderich delegate speaks to Church
"Listen and try to con-
sider," Mrs. Sally Walker
urged members of Hurorl-
Perth Presbytery of the
United Church. The
Goderich delegate was one of
a team of clergy and
laypersons who answered
Listowel minister, John
Anderson's expression of
frustration at the February
meeting of the court.
Mrs. Walker, Don Kobe of
Grand Bend and Rev.
Anderson, in reporting for
the group, outlined what they
felt were shortcomings in
Presbytery procedures and
then went on to propose a
number of solutions for
consideration. They had met
not to criticize, said
Anderson, but to share ideas
and perhaps share im-

provements.
One of the key proposals
was more meetings, some in
the form of workshops in
order that more intelligent
decisions could be made with
better follow up.
Should Presbytery be
divided? That was a question
asked by the group. Are
there too many issues?
Should there be a more
spiritual tone, more
celebration and more
education?
Getting to know one
another was suggested as
another priority as well as
orientation for new
delegates. It was indicated
that there was a large gap
between Presbytery and the
local congregations.
As a result of the ad hoc
committees' deliberations
the executive was asked to
review with the committees
the functions of the court and
report recommendations in
the fall.
Remit on Initiation
The Presbytery took ac-
tion to study the United
Church's first remit since
the United Church was
formed in 1925.
General Council has asked
each pastoral charge to
evaluate the document on
the difficulties and in-
consistencies in doctrine and
practice concerning bap-
tisms, confirmation and
church membership. To
assist congregations, a
recommendation submitted
by the Reverend Bruce Scott
of Stratford was adopted to
hold a special meeting of
Presbytery in June.
Don Kobe, reporting for
the Division of World
Outreach, questioned the
value of TV programs that
mislead viewers. The
reference was to 60 Minutes
which it was felt discredited
