Clinton News-Record, 1983-04-20, Page 10PAGE I4— LdNTON NEWS -RECORD, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20, 1983 Li, Lecke L..ur eetin news y Be McGregor La Leckie League an Huron County -South held their monthly meeting last month In Exeter at the home of Mrs. N. I)eJonge. Women and children from Varna, Brucefield, Hensall, Exeter, Vanastra and Cr- .:ton were present. The centre of discussion was on the art of breastfeeding and overcom- ing any difficulties that may arise. Leaving baby and get- ting away by oneself or with your husband was of great concern. It was pointed out by mothers present that it is natural for the new mother to want to be near her newborn and usually we are unhappy if we spend too much time apart from our infants. Society has encouraged women to get away to take a break but most instincts tell us to stay close to protect and meet our babies needs whenever they appear in early months of life. This conflict can be confusing to new mothers and can add to the stress of parenting. Mothers can be separated from their children however it is usually so easy to bring baby along, expecially one that is nursing, there is no need for parents to resent this new change in lifestyle. Tiny babies are not dif- ficult to take along to par- ties. In the early months they usually need to be fed and diapered and are con- tent to go back to sleep or look about in their carbeds, dressed for the weather, babies can go to ball games, to the beach, and usually sleep through the drive -in - movie A parent's activities are only limited by parents im- agination. Life does not have to change dramatically with the birth of a child. It was mentioned that having more than one child usually life is more restricted because there are more people's needs to be met. Older brothers and sisters may want to do things, be places, need their parents help in different ways. Thursday, April th at 8 PM will be the last meeting in Exeter at 260aC ur°cllnill Dr. The topic of discussion will be on nutrition and weaning and expectant women, new mothers and babies are always welcome. Mothers are welcome to call the local leader, Jams Bisback, 262-3505 if you have any questions or want more information about breastfee r 'ng. The summer series will begin in May and will be held near Brucefield. Zeta Omega sorority news On April 12 the Zeta ()mega Sorority toured the piano factory. Mr Murray Draper was the excellent guide for this informative evening. The tour began on the first floor of the factory where the rough lumber is cut, glued and routed until it is ready to be finished upstairs. On the second floor the wood is finished off and the musical parts of the piano are made and assembled. The factory employs 19 people and hopes to produce and sell a maximum of 500 pianos this year. Mr. Draper told a brief history of the fac- tory and Dianne Stevenson played a few songs on two of the finished pianos. Gayle Hiltz thanked Mr. Draper, on behalf of the sorority members and in- vited everyone to her home for the meeting. Vice President, Nancy Klomps began the meeting with pledge training and then reminded everyone about Founder's Day on April 26. The Ways and Means chairwomen reported the travelling basket is now at Diane Collyer's home. Pat Bell reported all the plans are made for the sorority women to see Gypsy in London on May 9. The Mother's Day luncheon for the members and their mothers will be at the Wesley Willis church on Saturday, May 7. Nancy reminded everyone of the last meeting at her home It will be a pot luck supper beginning at 7 p.m.; followed by installation of the new officers, secret sister gift exchanges. and a secret auction. , f ®pefea { new store I n f r Glen Read in I} i_gara Fails this week! ,t 100% PURE VEGETA LE SHORTENING Marvel Sliced White read 675 g LOY.H OUR REGULAR PRICE .75 CUSTOM GROUND, EXTRA FINE, EINE OR REGULAR Nabob Coffee 369 G.
