Exeter OPP are looking
for three young people who
were foiled in their attempt
to rob McLellan's General
Store and sub -Post Office LLi
Kippen last Monday
The youths armed with a
small handgun and a hun-
ting -type knife entered the
store where Mrs. Ida Dickert
and her granddaughter
Robin McLellan were
working After a struggle
with Mrs. Dickert, the
grandmother and their
Dalmation dog, the youths

Farmers in northern
Huron and southern Bruce
counties who have been
protesting prices being of-
fered for land on the route of
the proposed Ontario Hydro
power transmission line are
putting money up in support
of their claims.
Ninety per cent of the
farmers involved will agree
to give the money to help
raise the $10,000 needed to
conduct a study which will
determine the value of the
farmland. The farmers feel
they should have
professional help if they are
to have the information to
fight Hydro.

Huron County is definitely
to have a hospital for
retarded children, and it will
be larger than many had
expected. Instead of 700
beds, a 1,300 bed hospital will
be erected.
The government has
purchased 300 acres of land
in Goderich Township, two
miles south of Goderich.
The hospital has been
spoken of as Tom Pryde's
legacy to Huron County. Mr.
Pryde literally bombarded
the legislature at Toronto,
and the Prime Minister, with
his briefs in his effort to get
this hospital for Huron.

The fire alarm was
sounded early Tuesday
morning by someone who
probably wanted to see how
quickly the firemen could get
to the scene. The allarm was
a false one but it might be
well not to repeat it. There's
a somewhat stiff penalty for
that kind of joke.
The annual military ball,
given under the auspices of
the Huron Regiment, on
Monday night brought out a
large number of invited
guests.

A charge against a couple
of boys of annoying Jack
Wade was heard by P.M.
Andrews last evening. The
P.M. gave them some
fatherly advice and let them
goon suspended sentence.
The trustee board of
Turner's Church has decided
to build an enclosed shed in
connection with the church.
A subscription list is in
circulation and the shed will
probably be built in June.

as well as by day. Can't burn
it off either - no matter how
hot you make the stove.

The Blyth Review an-
nounces that hereafter it will
be published on Friday,
giving as the main reason,
the fact that most farmers do
not go to the post office until
Saturday, it has to lay in the
office longer than necessary,
and accordingly does not
contain the latest local news.
The Review is wise in
making the alteration. The
New Era made the same
change and finds it far
better.
The soap peddlers wanted
to ply their trade on Friday,
but the fear of a fine
prevented them from doing
so: six of them were in town
the previous night
A 10 -year-old was seen
smoking on the street in
Clinton on Saturday night A
dose of shingle vigorously
applied woifld do him good
Raking up hack and front
lawns is the order of the clay,
and the females appear to he
doing more of it than the
males.
