Eleven rnembers from Calvin - Brick and Belgrave U C. W attended the Easter Thank -Offering meeting of the Blyth U C. W. on Sunday evening. Mrs. Cecil Wittich of Listowel was guest speaker. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Johnston of Blyth and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse were dinner guests on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Daer and family of R.R. 5, Wingham. The annual meeting of the Belgrave Women's Institute will be held April 19 at the W.I. Hall Belgrave starting at 8:15 p.m. District President Mrs. Peter Chandler will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited to attend. Mr. Howard Wilkinson is a patient in Victoria Hospital, London. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Johnston of Blyth, Mrs. lrlma Edgar of Wingham, Miss Joanne Edgar of Tavistock and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse were dinner guests on Saturday evening at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Harvey Edgar of R.R. 4 Wingham. The W.M.S. meeting was held April 4 at the home of Mrs. Jack McBurney. Mrs. Joe Dunbar presided. A report was given on the annual meeting in Seaforth which Mrs. Dunbar, Mrs. Youngblut and Mrs. Gamer Nicholson attended. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Leitch, Julie and Jeffery of London, Mr. and Mrs. George Johnston, Tara and Erin of Ilderton spent Easter weekend with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby. Mr. and Mrs. George Johnston, Tara and Erin visited on the weekend with his mother Mrs. Laura Johnston. (Joanne Buchanan photo) Dangers of drug abuse discussed On April 5 at Hullett Cen- tral School there were four guest speakers who spoke on Alcohol and Drugs. Constable Gosse from the OPP showed slides on dif- ferent types of drugs. Two guests from Alcoholics Anonymous spoke about their experiences and a social worker from London spoke about the problems of alcohol and drugs. After the presentation peo- ple were free to pick up pam- phlets and look at the Grade 7 and 8 shop and home economics projects. - by Deanna Lyon Get well soon As you know the teachers and students of Hullett took a break in routine for the regular March break. We are sorry to say that Hullett's Grade 7 teacher broke his leg. He 1 acciden- tally) slipped on a patch of ice while jogging in Bayfield. Mr. Talbot is expected back this week. First in the Grade 8 physical was Anita Wilts, second was Kim Wright. First in Grade 7 biological was Jamie Gibb- ings and second was Bryan Howatt. First in Grade 8 biological was Lisa Preszcator and Grace Johnston tied. Everyone had excellent projects. All the students were supposed to be there to tell them about the projects. Leo Fred introduced the head table guests, including Zone Chau -man fur zone 3 north lion Rodger Lacelle and Mrs. Lacelle, Tiverton; District governor for Multi- ple District A 9, Don Bachiu and Mrs. Bachiu, Hepworth; Lion president and Leo Ad- visor, Jim Schneider and Mrs. Schneider; Lion Fred Lawrence and Mrs. Lawrence; Leo president, Janice Daer, Leo treasurer, Leo Rob Glenn; Multiple District A Youth Activities chairman, Dougall Camp- bell, Elmira; District Leo and Youth Activities Chair- man, Jim Paratchek and Mrs. Paratchek of Dublin; Leo secretary, Leo Angela Schneider; Leo vice- president, Leo Dennis Schneider; Leo Advisor, Lion Eldon Chamney and Mrs. Pat Nagel. A banquet prepared by the Leos was enjoyed by all pre- r sent. Mrs. Ross Dobie and Mrs. Jeff Sowerby served the dinner. Following the banquet, the Leo roll call was called by Leo Angela Schneider. Lion Bud Chamney proposed a toast to the Lion's Interna- tional Lion Jim Paratchek replied. Lion Jim Schneider, Leo advisor, proposed a toast to the Auburn and District Leo Club. Leo Den- nis Schneider replied to the toast. Lion Donald Haines in- troduced the guest speaker of the evening, Lion Dougall Campbell. Lion Dougall is the Youth activities chair- man for Multiple District A which includes all of On- tario, Quebec and Labrador. Lion Dougall explained what a Leu is. Leo Rob Glenn expressed thanks to Iron e Dougall Campbell and e presented him with a gift on d behalf of the Club Members. District Governor Don Bachiu presented Leo presi- dent Janice Daer with the club gong Lion Art Lefebre presented Leu Angela Schneider with the club gavel and Leo advisor Lion Eldon Chamney presented Leo Rob Glenn with the club fine box. Lion Fred Lawrence then called the Leo club forward and Lion Rev. William Craven and Lion Gordon Daer presented there with their certificates. Lion Walter Marchl and Leo Ad- visor Jirn Schneider presented each Leo with their pins. A draw was held un a pen set which was donated to the Auburn and District Leo Club by Lion Art Lefebre. Lion Doug Chamney held the lucky ticket. The Leo Club members are Brent Andrews, .Janice Daer, Jamie Daer, Julie Daer, Steven Elliott, Rob Glenn, Dianne Hanna, Mike Mason, Paul Plunkett, Bob Robertson, Angela Schneider, Dennis Schneider, Jon Scott, Kim Scott and Kevin Whetstone. Walkerburn Party The Walkerburn Club held a Tupperware party at the home of Mrs. Leonard Ar- chambault on March 29. Mrs. B. Glenn of Dungannon was the Tupperware Hostess. She started the afternoon with a bingo game and Mrs. Tom Cunningham was the winner. For the lucky number game, Mrs. Roy Daer and Mrs. Elliott Lapp were the winners. Mrs. Glenn had her wares on display and spoke par- ticulary about new features. All money from this pro- gram was for the Foster Child and it was a very pay- ing project. CLINTON NEWS-R.VcoftD. Good Friday Walk through Auburn was a huge success as members of the Youth Group of Knox United Church carried a Targe wooden cross through Auburn streets before the 11 a.m. service. The procession marched into the church and placed the cross at the front. During the service Keith Hallam and Janice Daer hanunered nails into the cross to bring to mind Jesus being nailed to the cross. The service was led by the minister, Rev. Bonny Smith. The organist Mrs. Florence Wightman presided at the organ and Mrs. Greg Park at the piano. Mrs. Park also sang a solo. Miss Snuth led the service in Bible readings and appropriate hymns were sung.
