To end the winter term at Huron Centennial School, the student of Grades 6, 7, 8 presented a talent show. Our 40 acts au 'timed for the show, and from those chosen to participate, the following were winners in their Cen categories: Individuals: 1st, Lisa Strong; 2nd, Julie Conant. Lluets, 1st, .tonnny ano Jeremy Miller; 2nd, Rox- anne Martin and Martha Hook. Groups, 1st. Easter Bunny ,I ochre party held in V Mary Chessell The Women's Community Club held a euchre party in Varna hall last Wednesday evening for the Clinton Hospital Auxiliary. Sixty dollars was delivered to Ruth Bond of the Auxiliary. Prizes for ladies' high and low went to Ruth Johnston and Doris Wilson. Annie Finkbeiner and Elva Webster, playing as men, won the other prizes. Draw prizes were won by Margaret Hayter, Keva Moore, Charles lteid and Joan Beierling. There was a large at- tendance of members and their gliests at Varna Church on Sunday for the Ey '.er service. Special music by the Varna Singers and by the Uke Singers, a group of teen- aged girls, was enjoyed. The Varna Singers will be heard again at the U.C.W. Thankoffering meeting this Thursday night at 8 p.m. Gwyn Whilsmith is the speaker. The Cancer Campaign kits will be distributed at this meeting. If you can help, please pick one up. On Monday, April 11 the U.C.W. Presbyterial's Special Event is being held in North Street Church in Goderich. There is always a very rewarding program at this evening event. John will now proceed to the rna street lights 25 years ago, and the township decided to pay 50 percent of the, cost. At the same time Gordon Hill was campaigning among farmers m the province for one organization to represent their interests. Guests with the Chessells for all or part of Easter weekend were family members from Stratford and Mrs. Margaret Cleland of Listowel, Bob Cleland of Toronto, Pauline Cleland of Welland and Cameron Jefferson of Waterloo. Marion and Jamie Tippet were home with the Dowsons for Easter. Joining them for dinner on Sunday at Margaret's were Tom and Barb Consitt and family. SUPER SPECIAL Western Ontario Regional Final at Barrie on April 17. Science Fair On March 31, the students of Grades 6, 7 and 9 held a science fair in the gym featuring a wide and in- teresting variety of models and experiments. The winners were: Grade 8: Physics - first, Jeannette Keyes and Martha Hook; se- cond, Kendra Papple. Biology - first, Roxanne Martin; second, Dana K1oss and Julie Boyce. Grade 7: Physics - first, Cathy How and Corrie Sin - Ramon; second, Lon Faber and Kathy Rathwell. Biology - first, Lois liannendyk and 'Para Chaff; second, Linda Bumendyk and Kelly Bran- don. Grade 6: Physics - first, Brent Weber; second, Shawn McCleachey and David Lawson. (Rod Hilts photo) For Easter Seals Thanlcful tankful campaign Esso Dealers and Imperial Oil Limited expect to raise more than $80,111 for the Easter Seal Society on Saturday, April 9. For the third successive year, participating Dealers and Imperial Oil will hold their "Thankful Tankful" campaign to raise money for crippled children in Ontario. For every Litre of gasoline pumped on April 9, the Dealers and Imperial will contribute two cents (nine cents per gallon) to the Easter Seal Society. Con- tributions w; I' be for gasoline sold during the normal Saturday business hours. More than 500 Esso Dealers in Ontario have volunteered to make donations from their sales that se y. The funds will be used by local service clubs and the Society to provide services for handicapped children such as specialized nursing care, artificial limbs and diagnostic clinics. Last year, the Dealers and the Company donated about $50,000 and Bruce Miller, Ontario Retail Manager, expects to exceed that amount this April.
