(Rod Hilts photo) L ONDESBORO the Dora Shobbrook editor Ieader Happy Gang seniors meet Good Friday An impressive service was held at the Londesboro United Church on Good Friday. Greeting and ushering were Elwood and Mark Mitchell. Lisa Duizer was organist. Colin Swan conducted the service. At the Easter Sunday service the greeters were John Hoggart and Gordon Shobbrook. Ushers were Lisa Bosman, Lori Bromley, Deanna Lyon and Janet Wilts. Colin Swan welcomed a large number of members and visitors. He reminded everyone that the stewards have Songfest tickets for sale. Junior teachers were Ann Adams, Donna Shaddick and Cheryl Lyon. The soloist was Harry Lear, accompanied by Gail Fear. Seniors meet The Happy Gang Seniors' meeting was held March 30 when they entertained 30 Blyth Swinging Seniors. Rena Watt was at the piano and president Beth Knox welcomed all with a poem. Audrey Thompson gave a reading. Lorne and Addie Bunking, Bob and Audrey Thompson were in charge of the en- tertainment. Eleven tables of euchre, one crokinole and Scrabble were played. Card winners were: ladies' high, Hazel Reid; lone hands, Nora Kelly; low, Vera Hesselwood: men's high, Clare Vincent: lone hands, Jake McDougall: low•, Harry Caldwell; lucky cups, Les Reid and Vietta Hoggart. Kelly Bosman entertained with step -dancing numbers. Jim McCall president of Swinging Seniors expressed thanks to Happy Gang for the invitation. At Shuffle Board on March 30 the winners were: ladies' high, Vietta Hoggart: 2nd high, Beth Knox; low, Dora Shobbrook: 2nd low, Clara Riley: men's high, Boh Thompson: 2nd high, Lorne flunking: low, George Hoggart : 2nd low, Reg 1awsun, play Off winners, Bob Thompson and Dora Shobbrook: low, Lorne Honking and Clara Riley Shuffle board will be played again on April f W.I. Personals Mrs. Beth Knox visited on March 26 with Mr. Ken Hobbs at Ailsa Craig nursing home on his birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Don Buchanan and brother Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred : uchanan of Bryanston returned home on March 30 from two weeks' holiday to Lolisiana.' Sunday visit irs 'with Mr. and Mrs. Alen Shaddick were Mr. and Mrs. Dick Garlicks of Kitchener and Miss Ruth Shaddick of Clinton. Ora Bruce, Pearl Mason accompanied by Pam Mero and Glenda Becker of Clinton returned home March 26 after spending two weeks at Porta Aransaz, Texas and in Mexico. Elsie Shaddick and Dora Shobbrook visited on Tuesday with Mrs. Hilda McDonald at Hermstra Rest Home, Listowel. Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Brome of 1,ucan spent Easter Sunday with her parents, (.len, Doreen Carter and Colleen. Cathy and Kevin who were married on March 19 just returned from a two week honeymoon in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Jackson, Brian and Sandra of Ridgetown spent Easter weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Tom Allen. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson visited last week in Moorefield and with her father Mr. Wrn. Hamilton in Palmerston Hospital. Easter weekend visitors with Mr and Mrs. Bob Thompson were their family Mr. and Mrs. John Lamisse, Rob and Jennifer of Kit- chener, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Radford of London. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Scott of Tiverton visited on March 27 with her mother, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Bruce. Lewis Stonehouse The Easter meeting of the Belgrave United Church Women was held March 29. An invitation was extended from the Blyth U.C.W to attend their Spring l'hankoffering, April 10 at 8 p.m. A discussion was held on Nuclear testing and mem- t:iers are urged to write their M.P. with their concerns. The U.C.W. is in charge of the May 15 church service. The next general meeting will be May 24th with Mrs. Gordon Cayley, Lucknow speaking on Amnesty International. All ladies are invited to North Street United Church, Goderich, the evening off April 11. Miss Laurie Scaldwell of London, a medical student recently returned from Zaire will be the guest speaker. The secretary was requested to send for 10 subscriptions of Mandate and a donation will be sent to "Seeds for Zaire". Anyone wishing to donate articles of clothing for the bale may leave them with Mrs. Dorothy Logan. The U.C.W. is catering August 19 and 20 for the Blyth Theatre suppers. Mrs. Janisa Coultes was in charge of the Easter program, a service written by Rev. George James of Toronto. Mrs. Ken Wheeler read the scripture. Others taking part in the dialogue were Mrs. Laura Johnston, Mrs. Dorothy Logan, Mrs Jim Hunter, Mrs. Olive Bolt, Mrs. John McIntosh, Mrs. John Roberts, Mrs. Helen Martin, Mrs. Norman Cook, Mrs. Lawrence Taylor and Mrs. Jack Taylor. The ladies quartette Mrs. AU eti Les Shaw , Mrs. George Procter, Mrs. Glenn Colaltes and Mrs. William Coultes sang accompanied by Mrs. George Johnston on the piano. Euchrescores Seven tables were in play at the weekly euchre which was held in the W.I. Hall on March 27. King gave a very in- spiring address on the living conditions of the In•t!ians and their laws.
