(George Chapman photo) Speci feat es Py Doris it tinter The Village M. rket, owned by Doug and Sharon Sin- namon, is one of three Georgian buildings in this block off the Heritage Designated District. Some of the details in fits construction place it tater in time than the Rogers House. Notice the glazing bars, or muntins, on the windows are somewhat heavier, the brick pattern at the cornice more modified. The store windows actually retain some of the original glass, the small bay is strictly in the Victorian genre. Fascinating to see the slender posts supporting the porch roof have quite unique finials, definitely of the Eastlake period. Mr. Gemeinhardt, Hayfield's legendary furniture maker of that time was proficient in this style. Could he have made the posts? The span of history these three houses represent is packed with interesting beginnings in this young land. Sir Sanford Fleming designed the first postage stamp, for er_ample in 1.C; 1, and Queen Victoria chose Ottawa as Canada's capitol in 1858. Goldwin Smith said at the time, "Ottawa is a sub Arctic lumber village con- verted by Royal Mandate into a political cockpit," and so it remains today. 4th Ann 1 No Contact hockey tou How they scored Ultramar 7 Blyth 10 Watford Matra alders 9 Staffen's 5 McLeans of Exeter 5 Friday winners Bayfield Knighthawks 3 Bayfield Blades 4 Clinton Horsemen 4 JMR Electric 3 Warner Auto Marine 1 Saturday winners Apex Leasing 7 Trail Smokeaters 10 Bayfield Flames 7 C.K.W.
