All members exhibited their scrap books which they had made on highlights of the country life of Scotland. The evening began with dinner at 6:30 p.m. served by the leaders. During the even- ing films on Scotland were shown. Brownie Sarah Allen did Scottish dances. Nearly 20 girls enjoyed the evening program and sleep - over. Breakfast of oatmeal porridge and scones were served bright and early. Short plays were performed by some of the leaders and Girl Guides. Crafts including weaving, cooking and sketching pic- tures relating to Scotland were done and all headed home tired but happy at 10 am on Saturday. Scouting founders honored Over 35 Girl Guides, Brownies and Leaders at- tended St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Blyth last Sunday to the early morning Mass to commemorate the founding of Scouting and Guiding by Lord and Lady Baden Powell. Father Pluto welcomed and complimented the girls on their accomplishments. Lost Heir There were four tables of Lost Heir on Wednesday night. The winners were: High Lady, Edyth Snell; High Man, Gorden Murray of Walton; Low Lady, Cecealia Edgar; Low Man, Edgar Howett. Lost heir will be played again next Wednesday. Euchre There were rune tables of euchre in play Monday night. The winners were: High Lady, Mrs. Mike Cum- mings of Brussels; High Man, Mary Holland, playing as a man; Low Lady; Mrs. John Simpson of Brussels; Low Man; Vi Howes of Clin- ton playing as a man; Ladies Lone Hands, Marg Mc- Cullough; Men's Lone Hands, Joe Holmes; Special, John Simpson of Brussels. Euchre will be played next Monday. Personal Mr. and Mrs. Carman Eckmier and Rev. Cyrl Berry of Stratford visited on Sunday with Mrs. Viola Haines of Blyth. 4-'ers cook heritage food On February. 16 the Blyth III 441 girls and boys met at the home of Mrs. M. Howson. There were eight members and two leaders, Mrs. Howson and Debbie Pierce present. The members read about Scotland, Ireland, Wales and India, their food and history. The 4-H'ers then split up into three groups and trade Irish soda bread, Maple Baked Apples, Anglesey eggs. Mrs. Howson had prepared the pumpkin soup. Members then ate the food, some en- joyed it but the pumpkin soup was the least favourite. Most people classed the food as "Different". The election of the officers took place. Heritage cooking Blyth II 4-H'ers will be participating in their cook- ing club called Ontario Heritage. During the first five meetings the members will learn about the food customs of the various nationalities which have settled in On- tario from pioneer times up to the present. A multicultural menu will be prepared at each of these meetings. March of Dimes raises 81,200 The Ontario March of Dimes' 1983 fund-raising campaign is officially over. Mrs. Mary Ann Howson is delighted to report that a total of $1,238.49 was col- lected in Myth and rural routes. The donations received from the Blyth community will help enrich the lives of physically disabled adults in many ways. Mrs. Howson would like to add a special thank you to the dedicated volunteers who worked so hard and to the members of the media for their support. And, of course, a very special "thank you" to everyone who gave a donation. All but one little duck headed the right way in their skating presention in Blyth on Friday night. In the mens "A" division 8th Liners are facing Auburn Falcolns and Atlas Rams are meeting Lakelet Hornets. The Lanesville Lords, Blyth Bears, League Team in one division and Goderich Oars- men, Maitland Riders, Clin- ton Warriors in the other division play a double round robin and the winner of each division plays for the B championship. The ladies playoffs are Lucknow and Blyth Bainton- eers and Auburn and Bel - grave for the "A" champion- ship and Goderich Harbour- lites, Gravel Runners, and Brussels Ladies play triple round robin for the B cham- pionship. Baintons advance to finals In Blyth Industrial Hockey League action Sunday night, Baintons advanced to the finals while Radfords clinch- ed a berth in the semi-finals with Hubbards. Radfords dtunped Blyth Inn 7-2 to win their series two games to one. Jim Kellar led Radfords with three goals while Steve Reid, Ron Hunk- ing, Ken Ritchie and Don Carter added singles. Ron Howson and Steve Nixon replied for Blyth Inn. In the second game, Bain - tons defeated Mannings 8-2 in their deciding game. Bain - ton scorers were Barney Stewart with four, Bill McDougall with two and Bob Mommersteeg and Jeff Lockridge. Lavern Clark and Pete Cook scored for Mannings. Radfords and Hubbards now play a two out of three series starting Feb. 27 at 8 p.m. with the winner playing Baintons for the champion- ship.
