uron Members of the board of Town tla Country Homemakers met at Vanastra Recreation Centre for their first monthly nneeting of 1983. Shirley Hazlett from Goderich joined the meeting as a guest. The board welcomed the news that Reeve Paul Steckley from Stanley Township has been reap- pointed to represent County Council on the Board. After a review of the budget and estimated business in 1983, the board reluctantly agreed that it is necessary to follow the Government guidelines on salary restraint, as well as a reduction in hours for the case manager. Thea Thrick gave a report on the Health and Safety meeting she and Terrance Trites, Irene Okahashi and Executive Director Jean Young had attended at Vanastra earlier this month. The object of the meeting was to make management and employees aware of their responsibilities in the workplace. Everyone commented on the successful sale of the amaryllis bulbs. It was theref ore decided to increase our purchases of bulbs this year. The property committee Ie0e0.Fe card party held The Clinton Oddfellows and Rebekahs held their card party in I.O.O.F. Hall on February 3rd with eight tables in play. Prizes were awarded as follows: Ladies High - Esther Moffat; Ladies Low - Agnes Carbert; Gents High - Bob Welsh; Gents Low - Bill Jenkins; Lone Hands - Ber- nice Richardson; Lucky Draws - Earnie Brown, Florence Routzon, Audrey Walsh. Terrance Trites informed the board, "The total raised to date from the canvass is $28,001, expenses being $6,280 plus an expense federal grant of 984. Certain donors had specified their donation was to be used as follows. $1520 for the building fund, $907 for the general fund, the remainder was unspecified. Names were given to the nominating committee for new board members. It is hoped they will be able to attend either February or March's meeting prior to the Country annual meeting in Apra. Elaine Baillie, Activation Consultant and a resource person for the Ministry of Health will be guest speaker at the annual meeting on April6 at Blyth. ..Members of Alcoholics Anonymous, Bill and Gail were guest speakers at the December meeting of Council for Alcohol and other Drugs. This was started in 1935 by a medical Doctor in Akron, Ohio. It was extended to over 25,000 groups in ST.
