Mr. Geoge Cowan with Marjorie McNall at the piano led a sing song. Mr. Cowan chaired the meeting and Ball Howson acted as secretary. Very satisfactory verbal and financial reports were given by each organization. The nominating con rtrut- tee brought in the slate of new officers for the session. Dick Poore, Gordon Carter, June Peck, Millar Richmond and Harvey Snell - to replace Stewart Ament, Robert Peck, George Wasson, William Young and Hazel Elliot who are retiring. Lenora Davidson, Grace Poore, and Herb Shannon will replace William Elliott, Bill Howson and Edna Rich- mond on the board of Stewarts. Mr Peck was appointed as the representative to the Presbytery with Fred Howson as alternate - replacing Jun McCall and Mrs. Mary Wightman. Steven Sparing told of the steady growth of the Sunday School and praised the ex- cellent cooperation of all has staff. Mr. Cowan reported that there were 18 baptisms dur- ing 1982, eight !marriages and five funerals. he said there had been 13 members removed by transfer and 25 new members. At the end of 1982 there were 541 members with a total of 295 families. Thanks were expressed to all of the groups in the church and especially to the Cowan who are numstering so splendidly until a perma- nent uunister can be fuwid to come next July. Mrs. Lenora Davidson, Mrs. Robt. Peck, Mrs. Wm. Howson, Mrs. Chas. Stith and Mrs. Evalina Webster attended the Huron -Perth Presbyterial Annual meeting held rn Seaforth on January 24. Mrs. Mary Wightnnan, Mrs. Louise Butte', Mrs. Webster, Mr. Irvine Wallace and Mrs. Jackson attended a dinner in honour of Mrs. Margaret Kal's 25th anniver- sary as choirleader aiid organist of Blyth United Church on January 30th. Mr. Bradley Lewis transferred his membership from Winghani United Chur- ch, Mrs. Betty Lewis from Dwigannon United and Mrs. Darlene Fear- from Blucvale United. The Junior choir, wearing their new gowns sang a special anthem. Following the benediction Mrs. Margaret Kai was honored. It was 25 years ago this January that she became organist and choir leader of the Blyth church. Mr. Bodie ('e -mg on behalf of the choir presented her with an engraved silver tray. This year at the carnival, "Disney on ice", you will meet some of your favorite Disney characters. Gaeler from Mount Forest showed a film on Winter Safety. The film showed the right and wrong way of snowmobiling, tobogganing, digging in large snow drifts, etc. Constable Gaeler asked the boys if they had ever seen the dog in action and if they would like to see him, to which he got a resounding response of yes. The group is now waiting to hear from Constable Gaeler as to when the dog will be available. The next meeting is February 3 at the Legion Hall. Drug pro''.>lem discussed WiNGHAM- A large group of local young people and some of their parents too, got a first hand look et some of the more common "street drugs" last week and heard about what can happen if you use them - or get caught using them. Wingham Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Guides, Brownies and CGIT members all showed up for the talk by Constable Eric Goss, public relations officer with the Goderich IPP. The program held at the Wingham Public School, was organized by the Cub leaders. They heard about the various types of drugs cir- culating in the area and afterward got a chance to ask some questions about them.
