At the school
The school has been back
for a little more than three
weeks. Activities are back
into full swing.
On Tuesdays and
Thursdays, Volleyball
games are being conducted
for the Grades 4,5 and 6
pupils. These games usually
end at about 4:15 p.m. The
entire school has been in-
troduced to the Jump Rope
for Heart Program spon-
sored by the Ontario Heart
Foundation. The Heart
Foundation has donated a
set of skipping ropes to the
school and at least one team
of skippers from the school
will enter a "Skip-A-Thon"
to be held in the spring.
The reasons why it is felt
that skipping is an excellent
activity for young people—
and "old" people are:
a) Skipping is an activity
which strengthens the heart
and lung system which
allows children to run and
play all games longer
without getting tired.
b) Skipping is an activity
that builds leg strength and
improves coordination.
c) Skipping is an activity
that is fun, and children can
do themselves or with
friends as a regular daily ex-
ercise.
d) Skipping is an activity
which will help improve a
child's rhythm and allow
him to be creative in combin-
ing jump rope skills.
