news
By Blanche Deeves
Morning Prayer was held
in St. James' Anglican
Church in Middleton last
Sunday morning with Rev.
George Anderson in charge.
Estelle Wise read the 2nd
lesson. Ralph Welsh and
Edward Deeves received the
offering.
The congregation was
notified of the election of
Parish officers and
delegates to Synod, to be
chosen at a potluck and
Vestry meeting on February
8, 6:30 p.m. at the Rectory
Camboue House. The annual
reports and other business
will be discussed.
Saturday night many from
this area attended the
Western Ontario Tractor
Pullers Association
Smorgasbord dinner and
dance at the Community
Centre in Holmesville.
Following the dinner there
was dancing to the music of
Star Trek. At the various
intermissions Murray Popp
gave out door prizes.

card party
By Blanche Deeves
The Enterprising Seniors
met January 20 in
Holmesville with Everett
Mcflwain in charge and Jean
Lobb at the piano.
Charlotte Norman read the
minutes of the last meeting
and Frank Yeo presented the
treasurer's report. Mrs.
Blanche Deeves gave her
card report, and it was
decided to send Mr. and Mrs.
Potter flowers.
Mary Sterling and Ruth
Morrison are in charge of the
entertainment and lunch at
the next meeting.
Mrs. Deeves introduced
Marjorie Vere, Counsellor
for Heather Gardens and
Ann Televan, Assistant
Director of Catholic Social
Service of London. They
gave some insight into
Heather Gardens and the
need for help. The ladies
thanked the Seniors for their
time and offered their help.
Mr. Mcllwain thanked the
ladies for coming, for their
very informative talk. A
motion was made by Marion
Powell and Mrs. Deeves to
make arrangements for a
birthday party for the
residents during the year.
The seniors then enjoyed
shuffleboard and cards.
