The afternoon unit of
U.C.W. started the New
Year with 34 members and
five visitors enjoying a pot
luck dinner prior to their
meeting on January 4.
The worship and program
was conducted by Valena
Trewartha, Ethel McPher-
son, Helen Potter, Lulu Mer-
rill.
The theme for the devo-
tions was based on the life
and hymn writing of Francis
Ridley Havergal in the 1800s.
Valena Trewartha led in
discussion in the Mandate
Magazine on how best to give
to Missions and the thoughts
of Rev. R.C. Plant. Reports
for the year were given,
showing a membership of 45
with average attendance of
32. Activities were 17 quilts
quilted and two quilts made
and sold.
Nine funeral lunches, two
banquets and two anniver-
sary lunches were served, a
coffee party was given and
assistance with the barbecue
and bazaar.
Upcoming events include:
January 24 - Huron -Perth
Presbytery meeting at Nor-
thside United Church,
Seaforth; April 17 - 19 - Lon-
don Conference at Sault Ste,
Marie.
A letter was received from
Heather Gardens requesting
help with birthday parties.
