Ids short cuurse A Christmas Smorgaas' {e rd luncheon was held in the board room of the ural anizations and Services :.ranch on December 15. Lois Elliott and Ann Kroesen provided casserole dishes using recipes from the Short Course, More Cents than Dollars, held at the Goderich Township Community hall on December 10, being leaders in taking the course. Lois Elliott explained the im- portance of the soy bean and stressed the recipes contain- ed in the books that were given to each member pre- sent. Other members brought salads and desserts. During the program the president read a poem. Pro- gram convenors Dora Heard and Margaret Bridle presented a Christmas pro- gram. Dora Heard led in the skit, The Meaning of Christmas. Others taking part were Elva Sanders, Alice Lawson, Mabel Harvey, Beatrice Groves, Daisy Holland, Doris Batkin, Lois Elliott, May Gibson, and Lorna Radford. At the close of the skit, Dora Heard lit a candle. Elva Sanders read a poem and Mrs. R. Baker sang a solo and also led in the sing- ing of several carols. Margaret Bridle conducted a contest and winners were Lois Elliott, and Dora Heard. A moment's silence was observed in memory of the passing of a Life Member, Mrs. Addie Sturdy, and Mrs. Leona Lockhart, a former Secretary - Treasurer. Cards had been sent to shut-in members for Christmas. The roll call was answered with a $25 donation to Family and Children's Services. The next meeting will be presented by Arm Kroesen and the topic is Resolutions. Middleton news :y Blanche Deeves Last Sunday in St. James' Anglican Church in Mid- dleton communion was celebrated and Lisa Stacey assisted Rev. Reynolds with the service. Mrs. Barbara Reynolds was the organist in the absence of Sarah Storey. The lesson was read by James Storey. Before the recessional hymn the rector had the Sunday School children come to the front of the church and gave them the three wise men and the camel and blessed them and had the children place them in the creche. Don Middleton and Edward Deeves receiv- ed the offering. Get well wishes go to all who are ill at this time in the parish so many are ill with the flu. Annual Vestry meeting will be scheduled for early in February. Watch for further notice. In preparation for those meetings all organiza- tions are asked to submit their annual reports to Bar- bara Reynolds by January 15 so they can be published. Our rector will be having surgery January 6, our prayers and good wishes go to Rev. Reynolds for a speedy recovery. During the month of January, Fathers Bill Bennett, Geo. Youmatoff and George Anderson will be in charge. In case -of emergency call Fr. Bill Bennett at 565-2834. Next Sunday, Morning Prayer in St. James' Mid- dleton with Rev. Geo. Youmatoff in charge.
