of Molesworth, who was returning

Miss Agnes Smith, who had obtain-

couple of years ago, when they mov-
ed to Mitchell. Sbe was well known
by a large circle of friends.
Chrrles IL Barr, who left Logan
township a. few years ago for the Wes-
tern States, died there some three
or four weeks ago. Now, news has
been received of the death of his
daughter, ottani, a most estimable lady
whoo was nearing her eighteenth birth-
day. She was on a. trip to Portland,
Oregon, but took sick on tate road, and
a
was obliged to turn flack, but could go
no further than beattle, where the
poor girl died a few hours after her
arrival.

Sean visited in Brussels. The former
is ,Superintendent of the Coldwater,
Mich., city schools and the latter is a
student in Ypsilanti, Mich, They
made the trip, 212miles, on their bicy-
cles, in 2 days, making Sarnia and
Exeter their halts,
Mr, Norman Hill. who has been in
St. Marys for the past year, was the
nes of his brother, 3. W Hill, last
week whale on bis way to Cranbrook,
in the Crow's Nest Pass where two of
his brothers are in business.- This is
seven members of the H ill fancily who
have located west of Lake Superior,
two in Manitoba, and five beyond the

work of the fremen, it was found DO -
possible to save the building. and it re-
quired the most. strenuous efforts to
keep Mr. Young's brim: residence too
from being swept away. The flames
were bursting out in several places in
the roof, but the firemen were able to
extinguish thein, although not before
the house suffered considerably front
both fire and water. The damage will
probably mount to about $3,:100.

Maria Goetz, wife of Theohold Litt,
of Sebringville,died Friday at 11 a, m,•
after an illness of a few days. She
was progressing so well on the morn-
ing of her death that her son, Daniel
G•, thought all danger wits past and
left for his house i:n Dunkirk, N. Y..
but soon after his departure she receiv-
ed a second stroke of that usually fatal
disease apoplexy,
and missed away in
about 13 minutes after "ares. Mrs.

twenty years afterwards, where she
married her now Bereaved husband itt
1853. In the following year the newly
wedded pair removed to Carrick,Coun-
ty of Bruce, where they remained till
188(1, remnoving thence to Rostock, in
the township of Ellice' in that year.
There they remained
till 1871 when
they purchased the form of the late
John Pearson, lot 1(1, concession 2,
Ellice, and remained on it till 1885,
when they retired to their home in
this village. Mrs. Litt was the mntber
of eight. children. five sons and three
daughters, one of the foresee dying in
infancy. The surviving members of
the family are Rev. J. G. Litt, of Or•e'd-
iton ; Daniel a, of Dunkirk, N. Y. ;
Theo Edward, of Prescott. Arizona,
Jacob. on the homestead ; Mrs. (Rev.)
