Dakota letters received from former
residents here state that in many parts'
of the country farmers have already
made arrangements to ship their cattle
farther south, as it is out of the ques-
tion to think of sustaining them
through the season, owing to the
hayoc wrought by the drought. The
sandy soil has dried up so that the
winds whirl it about at pleasure, and
crops have been blown out by the
roots.
Young man, you can't do it. You
can't make your way through the
world without work. They have
loafed around the street corners, told
windy stories and all that, but they
never succeed. You are no smarter
than other boys. Y ou r wits will not
bring you success in life; you had bet-
ter learn agood trade than become a
chronic loafer, producing nothing
whateyer foryourself, nothing to help
the world along. This world has little
use for boys who are not willing to
pull off their coats and earn their way
to fame and fortune. The good things
of life are not handed out to idlers on
silver platters.
