The people of the Huron District- Crystal • City, were again gladdened. by the ringing of wedding bells and another of the daring young Yuen was successful in leading his bride to Hymen's altar to be wedded into one. The happy young man was Mr. Wesley Baker and the blush• ing young lady was Miss Lizzie Werry. Mr. I. Werry supported the grobm and Miss E. M. Smith i the. bride. The didthe needful l e e y bride was given away by her father at whose home the ceremony was performed by the Rev. G. F. McOull- agh in the presence of the near relatives of the contracting parties. The bride was neatly attired in a navy blue gown trimmed with blue'satin, with a bunch of orange blossoms, and flowers in her hair. The bride's -maid was dressed in a brown dress trimmed with blue, and wore white flowers in her hair. When the marriage cere- mony was over the company followed the bride and groom to the dining- roomwhere a most sumptuous wedding feast was .prepared. The presents given the bride told of the high esteem in which she was held and their •good wishes to the young couple as they found a home'of their own. , A very pleasant evening was spent millet mus -4 ic, conversation and hearty' congratu- lations of all, and ',1?r. and Mrs. Baker left for their home followed by a show- er of rice and old shoes and the hearty good wishes of all their friends for a long and happy life. Waddell. After the opening exercises, the Misses Johns, of Elim- ville rendered selections which were much appreciated by full present. Mr. Stanley and Miss Murray, of Granton gave selections which were well pleas- ing to the audience. TELE SPELLING MATCH.—The pupils of Fairfield school hays adopted the old-fashioned way of learning to spell, i.e:., choosing sides on Friday 'after- noons each week and having what are commonly known as spelling matches, until they had become so proficient that they longed to compare their skill with some neighboring school and ac- cordingly issued a challenge to the one in the village of Crediton, which for good reasons was declined for the present. The night was fine which brought out a large crowd, the hall being packed to the doors. The pro gram was very good. The soldiers of the queen were represented by ten boys dressed in military clothes, who sang :a song and chorus entitled "Sol- diers of the 'Queen," which is entitled to praise.
