THE WoRK OF a Scnextor.-It was
the pleasure of the writer to recently
visit the Marble Works of Weekes
Bros. Our attention was particularly
arrested by one monument which de-
serves high comment, as it is some-
thing very seldom seen in this locality,
or in fact in many of the larger, towns
and cities where inerble firms are much
more numerous than in :Exeter. This
monument proper, is 7 feet, 2 inches
high and has 4 lovely draped urn rest-
ing on the top. it is in the figure it-
self, which is symbolic of . 'Remem-
brance," where the true and ex
cellent work of the sculptor is to be
seen. This figure is 3 feet 2 inches
high. The countenance and the
other portions' of the figure also are ail -
Most naturally beautiful. Every - turn
of the chisel it seems has moulded an
expression truly good and pleasing to
look at. Every line is distinct and
proves conclusively that the sculptor
is one of the topmost rank, Mr. W.
D. Weeks performed the work and has
a just tight to feel elated, over his suc-
cess with it and his ability in this line.
