=ray on Friday evening, when. Mr,
James Wood. quietly took leave of t•his
life. He bad a severe attack la grippe
a ewe' ago from which he 'lever fully
recovered. For the pest . month he
gradually sank until tbe end came. To
him death was a release and he met the
inevitable svith the fortitude that a,
bright hope of the future alone call
give. • The deceased was born in the
psarish of 13roadwoocl, Devon, England.
His parents emigrated to Canada when
he was nine yeses of age ancl settled in
Darlington township. Here he spent
his youth. In 1868 he was united in
marriage to Mary Blight. Mr. and
Mrs. Wood moved west to Huron Co.
in 1871 and bought a farm on the .2nd
concession of Usborne. Here he lived
until his death. . A family of one son
and two daughters survive hini... Mr.
Wood was a man highly esteemed by
his neighbors for his sterling qualities
of uprightness end charity. For many
years he has been a consistent and we-.
ful merabar of the Methodist churcb ab
Bethesda. His removal frorn us has
caused much sorrow to his friends.and
to his family who will ever remember
him as a kind husband. aiet a loving
father. Mr. Wood was in his 61st
year. The funeral took place from his
Zurich

14th con. on Tuesday. The crowd was
very large and good prices were realiz-
ed. Mr. Geiger intends moving to
Michigan shortly. -The plate front in
Meitier Bros. store is completed and it
adds greatly to the appearance of the
corner. They have gone back on gas
and are again using oil lamps in their
store. -A meeting of ratepayers is ex-
pected to be called for the purpose of
buildirag an air line to Ste •Tosepb.-

it away for nothing or something,to
that effect. Some men. evidently: get a
trifle rattled when pushed into a cor-
ner.. -Council met on Monday in the
town hall and disposed a bob of town-
ship businesa-The Jubilee Band Was -
at Hensalli Saturday, taking part in
the Deering •delinery of harvesting
machinery. The local agents,Rickbeil
& Dumart, are doing a large trade for
the Deering firm.- Chas. Fritz, our
popular shoeman, is doing a rushing
busihess 'on Front street. Charlie is
also selling bicycles for scene of the
best makers in Chinacla.-J. Schuettler
intends leaving for Cleveland shortly.

WEDDING BELLs. -The home of
Cicero Aldweath of the Blind Line
was tbe scene on Wednesday evening
of asvery happy gathering when his
youngest daughter, Christena, Was
