• A terrific storm raged through West
Nissouri Friday. Rain, hail and snow
fell, accompanied by a gale and severe
lightning. The damage to fences was
considerable, and the lightning arso
created heavy loss on some farms.
James Laird, of lot 11, con. 5, Nissouri
lost his barn and a quantity of bnple-
ments by lightning.
Death has removed a well known
figure in the person of Bernard Done-
gan, of Listowel, who passed away on
Sunday after along illness. • Deceased
was father of Wm. Donegan, bus man,
and had resided inListowel some three
or four years, previous to which the
family were residents of Carthage,
where deceased kept hotel for a num-
ber of years. He was in his 57th year.
Another move has beenmade in con-
nection with the business of the Noxon
Manufacturing COrnpanY, of Ingersoll.
F. R. and R.N. Ball, Woodstock,have
disposed of their stock to Wm.Watter-
Worth, who novy holds pretty nearly
half of the entire stock of ..- tile com-
pany. It is understood that the Wood-
stock men came out of the transaction
with a snug profit. This leaves the
control of the works completely in the
hands of the Ingersoll people.
On the morning of Nov. 8, between
one and two o'clock, the house of Jas.
lAvine-ston, M. P., of Baden, was visit-
ed bf burglars. They gained entrance
through a -Window and searched room
after room until they entered that of

continne to fluctuate within a narrow

steady,- with straight roller in barrels,
